My waterproofing has only been done around the edges. Is this normal? I thought concrete absorbed moisture. FWIW: Concrete tanks that stand 2.1mtrs tall and hold that head height of water don't show any signs of seepage, it is only the cracks that leak. Most concrete tanks are 100mm thick same as your slab(or less) and use concrete with the same strength concrete at 25 mpa. It is an illusion that 100mm of water will ingress into a slab. Why is there a step into a wet area? Just bone lazy and lacking skills to make a smooth transition at the threshold of the door. Ask your builder will there be a step into bathroom and if so why so?
