Re: Contract signing tommorrow!, any advice! 6Aug 29, 2014 8:32 am Well, if you still need advice, they do not change much in their standard ts&cs, and there is never enough time to read through all them anyways, simonds I have heard will ask you sign there and not let you take it home unless u sign. However, 3 clear business days cooling off period applies for you. Main things I'll worry about when I am there are all my drawings, appliances, electricals, plumbing fittings are good. Because std builders have lot office work behind one small change later and they charge variation fees for that.
Apart from this, ask if ur broker or bank is ok with the method used split progress payments, as some of them want lot of money upfront. Good luck Re: Contract signing tommorrow!, any advice! 7Aug 29, 2014 1:46 pm I found the contract signing with Simonds all really straight forward and the guy was really helpful with answering any questions and explaining them in English haha! Yes you have a cooling period so you will sign then and there and then maybe get someone who nos what they are looking at to go over with you if you are unsure. For us it was all pretty self explanatory. When do you expect to go to site?? Slab 19/9 Framed 22/9 Locked up 20/10 Simonds Lenox!! Re: Contract signing tommorrow!, any advice! 14Oct 01, 2014 3:09 pm All domestic building contracts in Australia need to conform to the Domestic building contracts Act1995 which covers both parties with a set of rules in which to abide by. What needs to be looked over very carefully are the specification and plans and the allowances in the contract. Make sure what is written in the specifications and shown on the plans is what you have agreed to. If you find items that are not included make sure they are written into the contract, specification and plans this can be done easily before you sign if the builder or their consultant refuses I would suggest you find another builder.
