Your builder is fobbing you off because he thinks you are a pushover.
Why isn't your own inspector helping you tackle your builder?
I hired the building inspector in frame stage to check the slab n the frame work. I was present at the inspection. He didnt even see things until I pointed them out. I felt like I wasted money for nothing. I got a copy of the BCA and educated myself to a certain extent and checked out for common mistakes. As u can see on the top photo they used a timber plate to support overhanging bottom plates. I fought hard n got them to replace that with a galvanised steel brace. They couldnt get it to support so end up welding some metal plates n bolting to the studs to support bottom plates. Really frustrating.
I have already submitted my case to VBA and now BACV says it had to be submitted first with them n takes 2-3 weeks. I dont even know my rights in holding payments. Builders office sent me overdue invoices n I explained to them, unless im happy with the building im not gonna pay.
