Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Aus Builders review/feedback site? 2Aug 26, 2014 12:20 pm Searching through the forums here should give you a bit of an indication as to quality of their builds and their reputation. Id take ProductReview with a grain of salt; or perhaps a handful. Our builder are rated 2.2/5 on there but we've found them to be really quite good (to clarify, communication hasn't been great in terms of telling us when things are happening, but the build is happing at good pace, and good quality)! Re: Aus Builders review/feedback site? 3Aug 26, 2014 12:25 pm Thanks but still cannot find much even on this site: Been looking for info about: HPG Australia Berkerly BlueKey Properties Can only find stuff about the bigger ones like burbank and carlisle Re: Aus Builders review/feedback site? 4Aug 26, 2014 12:48 pm Duncan Searching through the forums here should give you a bit of an indication as to quality of their builds and their reputation. I second this. Our builders review on Product Review was atrocious... 2.1 stars or something. We honestly cant fault them. People generally only voice an opinion when extremely displeased, and some of it is expectation management, not necessarily issues. You see so many people complaining about the time it takes to do things (even on here) some are very valid complaints, others are just that they don't realize how long processes take! Others are hard to please. So as Duncan said, a quick review might not give you the two sides and the background needed to make a decision on. A forum thread can give you much more insight. But if they don't have the volume of people building with them, it can be hard to find info... We really just took the manner of our sales consultant, his transparency, the way our questions were handled and how they went about things in comparison to others we'd sought out to make our decision. If you see a review with "listing managed" or similar written on the website there is a good chance that the Builder is actively allowing what they want posted on the website. Some builders will only allow positive reviews of the company online and have lots of duplicate reviews over various consumer review websites, which could mean that they are not genuine reviews or the consumers have been given an "incentive" to write glowing comments. Negative comments i think are good because it is something to discuss with the builder ie if people say the builder goes over the completion date or doesn't fix defective work etc you can ask the builder how they deal with these issues and how they protect you as a client. I would recommend talking to people who have used the builder and see examples of their work. I have spoken to people who just believed the sales pitch of the builder and did not research or speak to clients of the builder who have ended up in some pretty bad outcomes. Contact your Department of Fair Trading or Consumer Affairs and ask if they know if there have been complaints about the builder. In Victoria you can look up the results of VCAT cases and hopefully each state/ territory has the same system. Do a thorough google search on the company name and registered builder's name. Also in Victoria the Vic Building Commission does have a list of builders who had successful complaitns against them. Re: Aus Builders review/feedback site? 6Aug 26, 2014 1:36 pm Agree with what others have posted above. Negative reviews can help you look out for things and get a heads up on what issues to discuss but whether they are good or bad I don't think you can take that as your build will be the same. Also my measure for any review site is pretty much disregard any review from anyone that just has one post. Might seem a bit harsh but its amazing how many people have just one very positive review. http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me Re: Aus Builders review/feedback site? 7Aug 26, 2014 2:07 pm Yeh you are right usually people only give feedback to make a complaint Well can anyone here provide any info on the following builders?
