We're so excited. MalSannie Oh my gosh CONGRATULATIONS on getting keys!! How exciting :: I'm sooo happy for you. Thanks MalSannie, waited so long for keys and I still cant believe we have them! SaberX Congratulations! Whats the four buttoned garage remote for? Thanks Saber. SS tells me that only the top ones actually do anything so I'm not sure why the other two are even there. Hootie Congrats on keys! How exciting! Have lots of fun Thanks Hootie, I think the real fun will ebgin when I can stop stressing about moving. Sorry it's taken me so long to get back on here. So since getting keys friday we had a small party that evening. I also seem to be bleeding money with all the trades coming through and things that need to be brought. Over the weekend the flooring was installed. Some how he didn't have enough for the linen so he's coming back tomorrow to finish that off as well as all the edging. I took monday off work and organised my week of trades. I called an electrician that morning and he happened to be free so he came around in the afternoon. Super impressed with his work, very fair and honest. It's good to give the little guys a go rather then the ones who have the contracts with the builder. If anyone in the south west if looking for a good electrician let me know. He did the pendants over the bench as well as removed the GPO's for the splash back to be installed on Tuesday. Im not happy with one of the seals in the glass splash back so thats going to be looked at. Tuesday the electrician was back in after the splashback guys to install the downlights in the kitchen and to fix up the GPOs. We ended up putting the pendant on a separate switch to the downlights. Quite please with how this turned out. Our council bins also arrived. Today my soakwell guy came and did his thing. Also gave me the name of a guy to remove the sand and level out the front. He'll be over tomorrow. Tomorrow my electrician is coming back to install my 40 something lights. Also having my windows measured and quoted as well as the sand removed. Saturday is moving day!! SS noticed the I only had the door frames in the theater and recommended that I go and have a look at the reject pile at M&B doors. Most of the doors there have nothing structurally wrong with them but may be a little dirty or someone didnt want them anymore. I ended up getting exactly what I wanted and paying $280 for the two doors! To think the builder was going to charge me $700each!! Would definitely go have a look there if you are installing any of your doors after handover. Anyway I think that's all for now. I'll do my best to get back on before moving day. Hahah thanks MalSannie! Definitely was stressful but it was worth it. So glad we managed to get most of our handover tasks done in a week. I'm so glad we went with vinyl, tiles would have been way too cold!I'm sure whataver you pick, it'll look amazing in your kitchen. So happy with the doors. kellie_87 Oh wow, your home is looking amazing! You've achieved so much already. I love your kitchen pendants Thanks Kellie! I was a little worried the pendants wouldn't work but I'm so happy with how they turned out. Smiley77 Looks great, love the pendants Thanks smiley Dream_Catchers Looks great! Can't wait for more pics! We too are building with Smart Homes. Getting close to lock up now Our 'First Home' Build viewtopic.php?t=72518 Thanks DreamCatcher! I'll have to head over and check out your thread Hi all, I'm sorry it's taken so long for me to get back on here. Moving is certainly not easy! I totally get why people buy established houses now. So after a super productive week of trades I was just waiting for something to go wrong. I got a water bill for $270 compared to my usual $20(not including service fees). We ended up getting a plumber in to have a look at it and he reckons it was done when the bobcat ran over the retic box during the final site clean. So that bill has now been forwarded to the builder. In the scheme of things, not a major problem. Our landscaping is due to be done within the next 3 weeks, I'll post a picture of the plan once I have it. I will be so glad when it's done as it means less send coming inside. I love my new kitchen, I even like washing the dishes thanks to my huge sink. The air con is due to be installed sometime this month, I'm still waiting for them to get back to me. We got our quote back for curtains as sheers to 4 windows and it came in at $6K, so we're looking at how this can be reduced. Way too much for me to be spending on four windows. My 16yr Daughter refuses to be home alone as there's no one elese on our street and "the house is so big", I don't blame her. Anyway no photos yet, still not happy with any of the rooms Oh, is there anyone from the SW that had their wardrobes fitted out after handover? Re: Smart Homes Build 173Aug 02, 2015 4:03 pm Wow that is expensive we can't afford that either we'll have to diy curtain rail and buy ready made. Are blinds as expensive too? Re: Smart Homes Build 175Aug 05, 2015 7:03 pm Hi There. Your house is looking great. I have just signed with Smart Homes to build the Mentor. I was just wondering how much they charged you to paint the internal walls? Also which timber flooring did you choose? Re: Smart Homes Build 176Aug 06, 2015 6:25 pm Ouch that's a bit pricey! We have to pay 6k for window treatments for our house as it was a keystart requirement else i would have sourced them elsewhere for less. However that's for verticals, duo rollers and venetians throughout. We'll also be having our WIR and other robes fitted after hand over as hubby works in the industry so know a few people, hehe Can't wait for pics!!! Perhaps rollers or vertical blinds are ok to install yourself? Not sure but my plan was to diy install venetians... I assume getting someone in to do it would cost a heck more and the saving would outweight the learning of a new skill and unless you did a terrible job a slightly wonky or off venetian wont be noticed by my tenant. Aburong, going along similar lines be keen to talk to you what things are costing you. Pm me please. Re: Smart Homes Build 178Aug 12, 2015 11:02 pm Hi Millbridge hows your house going. Ill drop you a pm but just wonderinf how your mentor is going. How did the 18course low wall look when you walk down your entrance? Trying to decide now myself whether tl remove the wall entirely... Those in my household reckon it'll block the open living area from looking as big as it. Could... Hmmm Re: Smart Homes Build 179Aug 24, 2015 11:08 pm Hey guys, Sorry it's taken me so long to get on here I've had major struggles with Internet and the I was ill. Anyway since last time our ducted air con has been installed and our front landscaping is due to be finished tomorrow. That's about it. Our wardrobes are getting installed in 4 weeks and I'm so excited to have somewhere to store all my clothes properly. MalSannie Wow that is expensive we can't afford that either we'll have to diy curtain rail and buy ready made. Are blinds as expensive too? At the moment we have make shift curtains with a lretty sheer on top. I'll try and remember to take a photo tomorrow for you. From my knowledge, blinds are cheaper. Smiley77 I am going with DIY curtain rods and ready made curtains from spotlight. I would love pelmets and sheers but it's just not in my budget atm. Bugger about the retic box Ahhh if only the budget could keep expanding, unfortunately by now most of the money has dried up. aburong Hi There. Your house is looking great. I have just signed with Smart Homes to build the Mentor. I was just wondering how much they charged you to paint the internal walls? Also which timber flooring did you choose? Our internal walls were done as part of the package we signed for so I actually have no clue on the price, sorry. Our floor in the vinyl range from harvey norman. So happy we went with it. Bunnings has become our second home lately, constantly buying things for the house. Most of the time labour costs more than the actual product so DIY would be great. We're going for a tropical look in the garden. I'll definitely be adding some more plants later on.
