Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Fowler homes - santorini 21Apr 07, 2016 10:36 pm Yeah I think they are building at the ones on the corner of Raymond terrace Rd. http://bellaviabuild.wordpress.com Re: Fowler homes - santorini 22Apr 26, 2016 9:55 pm FRAMES!!!.....frames frames frames frames So Frames up today, so awesome to finally 'see' our home, instead of lines on paper. Just looking through the cage until we can get in, we can spot a few things, nothing major i hope. The linen cupboard doors look to be only normal doors, not the upgraded height for one Other than that just realising how big (and small) some spaces are. I think the look of it will change again when the giprock goes up. So good to finally get to this stage, hoping tomorrow or Friday we can do a walk through and make sure it 'feels right'. Hopefullly the chippys are in a good mood because i think there is a few things we need to slightly alter. Actually on that, anyone that has built before, the doors are hung on site i would imagine? Like they dont come with hinges/door knobs attached? I think we want to reverse a few doors and have them swing the other way, so the chippy should be able to sort that for us, if we play nice, i hope? Bricks also got delivered yesterday and should start going up this week (might even be a nice surprise today maybe ) And windows should be getting installed this week. All in all, it really is progressing really really nicely so far (touch wood), a few things that i have noticed have been fixed up super quick and when i was chatting with the neighbours yesterday (who just finished building) they commented how clean the site is and how quick the workers are going. Go Fowler Go!! Fascia and gutters going on this week, roof supposed to be delivered on Friday and completed by Tuesday (going up quick!!) Just small issues so far, everything has been fixed or explained by SS. Biggest issue is that the sliding door delivered is not what we want, but was incorrect on all the plans that we signed, but i just hadnt noticed (the size was right, but the small line work and arrows were wrong so the incorrect door was ordered and delivered). SO....now we need to be a new door......anybody want to buy a glass screen door? lol Fowler Santorini 35 Tender - Oct 14 Dirt turned - Apr 16 Slab - Apr 16 Frames/Truss - Apr 16 Roof tiles - May 16 Sheeting - June 16 Lockup -June 16 http://bradlysantorini.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Fowler homes - santorini 27May 25, 2016 7:22 pm Roof completed today!! Gutter and fascia was completed Monday. Well, they just need to do the pointing around the tiles. Then hopefully to lock up with the front door and everything on sometime next week. Still seems to be going pretty quick!!! Bricks were also acid washed yesterday and looks a million dollars now!! We got the electrical rough in done a few weeks ago, went well, just a few things we wanted moved as it made more sense in the house rather than on paper. All sheeting has been completed, dropped ceilings look really nice with the square sets. Front door is going on today i think, will be really nice to see that. So after the internal doors (which were delivered yesterday) and finishing the cornices, i think there is just water proofing left and then start the fitout. Will try and get some photos up this afternoon. I'm still at brick stage after waiting a few weeks for a brickie to be available. When you said you moved some electrical around, did you just do that directly with the electrician on site or thru Fowler? I'm like you I want to move some lights and powerpoints now that I've physically seen the house. I think if I change anything with Fowler it's a $1000 admin fee. I did it onsite when i did the walk through. One was due to flipping a cavity slider 180°, so the light switch would have been around a corner, that one was ok. Another was changing the operating switch for the pendants lights, there was talk of me paying the electrician for the labour to do it (thinking half an hour or something - if that) but i havent heard about it since, so i might get lucky there. All in all everything looked pretty good in the walk through, i dont know about you but we had a REALLY good experience with Connie at the selections so we were pretty confident. It would likely depend on your SS and how you are getting on with them i reckon. Yeah Connie was ok but I wished I had added a lot more other items while I was there. Connie didn't suggest any items but just put down what we wanted. So do you get a walk thru with the electrician before he starts the rough-ins or did you ask for that? Re: Fowler homes - santorini 33Jun 23, 2016 2:55 pm Our SS said its just what he normally tries to do. Just because it is much easier to change anything before the sheeting goes up, as you would imagine. We did the walk through with the SS himself after the rough in. It just so happened that the electricians were there at the time too, so anything i asked about he just called him over and asked if he was able to do it. I am building with fowler (Moroccan 38). The proces started in June 2015 and finally the build started in May 2016. The first few weeks were awesome where it looked like we will be at the locked up stage in no time.. alas.. not the case . We had the slab and external plumbing done. During this time our SS changed and he was kind enough to notify of the change (although I have never met him in person). He also gave me the schedule of the next phase (which btw was supposed to be completed last week). The new SS has not contacted me despite me calling my previous SS to ask him to contact me. I am worried that the build time is going to extend unnecessarily. Hss anyone had this experience and how did they fix it. going trough the other posts it looks like most of the build has extended the 9 months mark some even going over a year. Has anyone had their project done within 9 months and what did you do to make that happen. Cheers Fowler homes - santorini 36Jun 24, 2016 8:48 am first_timer1 Hi Guys, Sorry to interrupt. I'm in my 4th month of the build and they have only started to do the bricks this week. Most other builds at this time should be at lock up stage. But mine has been the lack of available tradies. Had to wait 3 weeks for a brickie to arrive and before that our chippies did 4 days work over 4 weeks which was very frustrating. Hopefully my build from here will be smooth. Who is your SS? Mine is John, he is great and gets things done, but I have to always call him. So just ask your CSO to give you his number so you can contact him. Ray. Re: Fowler homes - santorini 37Jun 24, 2016 9:06 am Thanks Ray, Mine SS was John (he was good and very responsive) until he was transferred to another project. My new SS is supposed to be Damien but I have not heard from him yet. The frames and windows were supposed to be complete by last week but there is no sign of anything happening. I have emailed the CSO asking for some guidance. Hopefully they come back to me with some answers. I guess building is stressful but all I want is some communication as to what is happening. Will post when I have any communication from my SS. Thanks again. Re: Fowler homes - santorini 38Jun 24, 2016 9:12 am Got the reply from the CSO (very prompt) that she has escalated it as urgent and the SS should contact me soon. Let's see how soon..(sorry to be sceptical). Fowler homes - santorini 39Jun 24, 2016 10:14 am Always be sceptical with your build. I pass my house daily and note when things are happening and when nobody is there..... Building is very frustrating and the most frustrating part is the lack of communication. If I had a weekly call from my SS just to give me an update, there will be less anger and less fights with my wife lol.... These forums have helped me so much reading up on others building their homes with worse delays and stuff ups than mine and I feel greatful again that mine is not too bad. Your frames and windows will go up in around 4 days like mine, but hopefully they are there the 4 days in a row for you. Sorry Scott we are using your forum, I know I should of started my own but was too late to do so. Re: Fowler homes - santorini 40Jun 24, 2016 11:02 am Thanks Ray. I am new to this forum but I am already finding my inner peace now ..lol I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending. All their existing trades and businesses don't work with… 14 105622 Anyone built with Fowler Homes? Feedback? Especially any things concerning or negatives?
