I would like the darker grey tinge/tone colouring so understand that I cannot get solid timber. A flooring specialist would answer all of your questions. But to summarise the difference between engineered and solid timber. Engineered is much cheaper, just install and nothing else, comes in a myriad of finishes. Biggest downside, doesn't feel solid and flexes and creeks when you walk on it. Can only be sanded 2-3 times in it's life. Solid timber, expensive, once laid needs to be sanded and stained/coated. Solid as solid can be. Can be resanded many many times.
