Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 15, 2014 10:40 pm Hi Everyone After weeks of looking and reading reviews Mum and I decided to build with Aveling Homes, the sales Rep at the Bletchley Park Aveling Homes was helpful, And as we were going to be building a custom design we wanted someone who we felt comfortable with and was easy to work with. And Brendan has been great to work with, he helped design exactly what we wanted, he showed us ways to save money and still have what we wanted, he was easy to reach and always returned calls, he certainly made the first part of our build a lot less stressful than I expected. We put our deposit on a block in Byford on the 28th February 2014 (We had a lot of trouble finding something we liked that was big enough that wasn't going to break the budget, in the end Brendan actually found us this block) We also signed with Aveling Homes on the 28th February 2014 From there I thought the fun part started, getting to pick everything, it works out its not that easy. I'm not sure if it would be a good thing or bad to be able to see into the future I'm a bit late with replying, it's been a bit of a drama after pre-start, the lady who did ours basically did nothing on it for over 2 weeks and so her manager took it over, and now we're waiting on drafting. Its been really frustrating. I hope you have a great holiday, and your home has progressed in leaps and bounds while you've been away Signed with - Aveling Homes, 28/2/14 Consultant - Brendan Wekeem (Now works for Plunkett homes) Purchased land - Byford, 28/2/14 Signed Contracts - 28/5/14 Pre-start - 1/7/14 Re: Mum and my build with Aveling Homes in Byford 6Jul 27, 2014 10:21 pm Byford is coming along so nicely , spoke to lwp on Friday they are now have blocks 630sqm at the same price I paid for my 930 Sqm 2 years ago . Congrats averling homes have some nice designs Hi Melsie68, I still think of Byford 'Out in the sticks' probably because I have always lived so close to everything, popping into Coles is a nightly thing as its just 2 min drive, so I do hope Coles hurry's up Because we needed a decent size block we didn't have a lot of options especially price wise, we ended up buying a 709 sqm2 so we could fit the house on. We're building a custom design one through Aveling based loosely around the Oasis (it actually looks closer to the Riverlea) though Signed with - Aveling Homes, 28/2/14 Consultant - Brendan Wekeem (Now works for Plunkett homes) Purchased land - Byford, 28/2/14 Signed Contracts - 28/5/14 Pre-start - 1/7/14 Re: Mum and my build with Aveling Homes in Byford 8Jul 28, 2014 10:28 pm Welcome to the forum and welcome to Byford. I am almost at the end of my build with Aveling and they have been pretty good for the most part. I am expecting to have keys in the next couple of weeks, though still have a few things to do before we move in And I have been pretty impressed with the quality of the Aveling tradies too My Build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64881 Re: Mum and my build with Aveling Homes in Byford 9Jul 28, 2014 11:24 pm Welcome Tracey. And I'm just as nosey so that's good Signed with - Aveling Homes, 28/2/14 Consultant - Brendan Wekeem (Now works for Plunkett homes) Purchased land - Byford, 28/2/14 Signed Contracts - 28/5/14 Pre-start - 1/7/14 Re: Mum and my build with Aveling Homes in Byford 12Jul 30, 2014 7:41 pm Hi Tracey, we built a version of the californian - but added an extra bedroom. The build has gone slowly, but the work is pretty good. I had a meeting with the building manager this morning to rectify a mis-communication that occurred back in prestart, with the construction of my microwave stack. Long story short he is organising a meeting with myself and the cabinet maker to have it constructed the way I had always wanted. Build quality is very good and I am happy. I have a copy of my plans both original and changed on the first page of my build topic My Build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64881 Re: Mum and my build with Aveling Homes in Byford 13Jul 30, 2014 9:39 pm hi there, I'm also building with aveling just outside byford in cardup. I'm so over it I'm beginning to wish I hadn't decided to build Signed with - Aveling Homes, 28/2/14 Consultant - Brendan Wekeem (Now works for Plunkett homes) Purchased land - Byford, 28/2/14 Signed Contracts - 28/5/14 Pre-start - 1/7/14 Re: Mum and my build with Aveling Homes in Byford 17Aug 13, 2014 2:23 am We had a brickie shortage during our building plus the christmas and New year break. Once they started though, the walls and roof went up pretty quick. Good luck and Don' t let it get you down too much it will be worth it in the end. My Build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64881 Re: Mum and my build with Aveling Homes in Byford 18Aug 13, 2014 10:06 am That sucks that it is taking so long! I hope they manage to get it right for you now! My build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68002 Re: Mum and my build with Aveling Homes in Byford 19Aug 13, 2014 4:30 pm Hi Tracey17 Still no contracts for us... We were told it would take around 3 months so that would mean we should have them by the end of this week. Am I right in assuming you do pre start after you have contracts signed and (finance) approved? Re: Mum and my build with Aveling Homes in Byford 20Aug 13, 2014 5:44 pm Yes. Then any changes made at prestart are as a variation. My build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68002 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 19850 3 51856 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending. All their existing trades and businesses don't work with… 14 109681 |
