Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Coral Homes Noosa 23 - Bricks 81Nov 03, 2014 3:39 pm Lovely bricks. Did you deal with Julia from Coral's North Lakes display home during the early stages? We've have found that communication seems to drop out after putting the first deposit down and they are indeed pretty slow at head office. Re: Coral Homes Noosa 23 - Bricks 82Nov 03, 2014 6:28 pm I dealt with Stephanie. She is no longer at North Lakes. My communication didn't drop off too much, about 1 week or less for turn around in tenders. I always booked times to go see here rather than going via email, not sure if that made any difference. Progress for today was impressive. No photos today - was getting dark when i arrived. Bricks are 80% done. If they maintain the rate of today then it will be completed tomorrow. A few concerns with the brickwork; the odd brick not aligned properly. It's not too bad, but noticeable when you go looking. Some weird grout issue near one of the corners. Looks like they took too much grout away, should be a simple fix. Rest of the cornices have gone in. Cabinets have been delivered and some of the kitchen has been installed. Not holding my breath for December handover given it's November already, but if they steam ahead then it will be close. The Sockitz type switches? I'd like to know too. We want pretty much a wall of them in our study. Whzzz, I hope you can get out there today during daylight and take some pics. A bit thoughtless of you to go out there when it's too dark to take photos to share with us all Have you spoken to your SS about your brick concerns? Sounds similar, but to a lesser extent to the issue Charlinic had. If not fixed tonight, i'll contact the supervisor. Will try and get out there tonight before the sun goes down for some pics. Building our first dream home in NSW Re: Coral Homes Noosa 23 - Bricks 89Nov 04, 2014 7:09 pm Some more bricks. They are almost done. Some areas still missing bricks, such as above windows and the front of the house. Happy i spent the extra for bricks above windows instead of FC infill. Cabinets have also been installed, pending benchtops. Kitchen: My Noosa 23 Build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72782 Re: Coral Homes Noosa 23 - Bricks 91Nov 06, 2014 1:42 pm Brilliant! Your bricks are absolutely beautiful. Kitchen looking schmick also. Re: Coral Homes Noosa 23 - Bricks 92Nov 07, 2014 6:27 pm Unofficially, we are at lockup now. Not a lot of work over the past few days, a few bits and pieces here and there. Brick work was finished today, doors and door frames were started, for one door (hey it's a start!) Had some nice sludge today thanks to last nights storms as the brickies decided to remove and not place back the temporary downpipes. Suspect next weeks work consists of render and other various wood work for doors etc. My Noosa 23 Build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72782 Re: Coral Homes Noosa 23 - Bricks 93Nov 07, 2014 6:51 pm That's exciting! When did your slab go down? How long have Coral said the build will take? Re: Coral Homes Noosa 23 - Bricks 95Nov 07, 2014 9:36 pm Official start date was 15th September, that was site cut. Slab went down the week after, so roughly 8 weeks thus far, 7 weeks from slab. Can't complain about their speed thus far. Although, i was advised it will slow down now that it is at lockup. Pretty happy with the job the tradies have done. Wish they would stop leaving half a pizza in the bin though - attracting a murder of crows! Did a sweep of the house yesterday as the floor basically had a coating of dust/stuff on it. Took awhile, but looks a lot nicer now! My Noosa 23 Build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72782 Re: Coral Homes Noosa 23 - Bricks 99Nov 10, 2014 1:45 pm Whzzz, how much extra did they charge for brick over the windows? Have you also gone brick over the garage door? Re: Coral Homes Noosa 23 - Bricks 100Nov 11, 2014 11:25 am Was around $1100-$1300 or so. No bricks above garage - the front is going to be rendered, so no use putting bricks there. You may have issues getting bricks above the garage. There is a limited length to the steel lintel (due to weight). After that they need bigger lintels and it starts to get costly - too costly. My Noosa 23 Build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72782 Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13718 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish.
