Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Coral Homes Noosa 23 - Handover 261Feb 24, 2015 3:59 pm Cleaner was out today, she couldn't remove the stuff, which could be paint, either. Going to try undiluted phosphoric acid tomorrow. Failing that, back to coral. Either they rip the tiles up or get a pro tile cleaner out to try. Either way my furniture remains in the next garage until resolved. Grout haze is a milky surface on tiles. It's as a result of improper grout cleaning after the group is applied. Can't prevent it really as by the time you you realise you have it, it's too late. Phosphoric acid works great. In my case I have both grout have and some other substance, most likely paint on my tiles. Re: Coral Homes Noosa 23 - Handover 263Feb 24, 2015 8:54 pm I hope you are able to have it removed. If not coral better replace the tiles quickly. Re: Coral Homes Noosa 23 - Handover 264Feb 25, 2015 7:29 am Have you called Corals head office,I'm sure they'll clean or replace the tiles,I'm going to make sure that our SS and the tiler are aware that they need to clean the grout from the tiles properly, I would think the tiler is the one that didn't clean your tiles properly, therefore he's responsible. Re: Coral Homes Noosa 23 - Handover 265Feb 26, 2015 8:15 pm Well after 8 hrs of scrubbing, 2hrs of on the hands with turps and another 2hrs (and still not complete) for half the house to be sealed, the floor is looking like it should! Coral's cleaner didn't really have the tools for the job on this one. They should have hired a proper tile cleaner. So she rocked up at 11am. Spent 2hrs doing the small ensuite area before starting on the rest of the house. She did an ok job of the ensuite, but i still had to scrub it myself with turps to get it up. Now have two blisters on my hands and tired as all hell. There is an ending coming though! Hopefully mid morning tomorrow it will be all done. Then i can actually move the furniture into the house. In other news, NBN booked a week before hand over and still wont be installed until 11th of March One month hookup - even Telstra is faster than that NBNCo! AC guys didn't show up Monday morning, scarily though the company that was doing the install was unable to contact the employee. Hope he is ok. So AC install tomorrow. Energex should have upgraded my meter by next Friday as well, so Solar can start working. It will be all over soon and then you can enjoy your new home properly Re: Coral Homes Noosa 23 - Handover 268Mar 02, 2015 2:46 pm With the floor cleaned, furniture was moved in over the weekend. So i am finally in and the "new house feeling" is starting. Still so much to do though. Have to turn my attention to the outdoors soon. Now please tell me it's well worth all the stress?! Re: Coral Homes Noosa 23 - Handover 274Mar 04, 2015 11:40 am Worth the stress? I guess. Coral over all did a decent job. I think it still needs to sink in that this is my house now... I'll post some more pics once i get internet at home (should be next week). And Energex upgraded my meter yesterday for solar, so will be interested to see how much i generated today. Was sitting at 2.9kw at 7:15 this morning, which surprised me. Also was it extra to have the flat range hood as I don't really like the big bulky ones? Thanks Re: Coral Homes Noosa 23 - Handover 276Mar 08, 2015 7:56 pm Firstbuild92 What brand kitchen appliances do coral use now? I was told they stopped using blanco. Also was it extra to have the flat range hood as I don't really like the big bulky ones? Thanks Hi Firstbuild92. Coral (like many builders) now use Technika appliances. We opted to remove these from contract and supply our own. That way you can get the rangehood you like. Coral Homes Noosa 23 - Handover 277Mar 08, 2015 8:53 pm We got credits for the Technika ones and have supplied our own Re: Coral Homes Noosa 23 - Handover 278Mar 09, 2015 10:33 am As already mentioned, they use Technika exclusively now. Before that they used Blanco rangehood with Omega appliances. The Omega appliances were not too bad, but the Technika is just terrible. Especially the rangehood (very low airflow). I ended up buying all of my own appliances and having the builder install them. Ended up with a Blanco rangehood (built in) and Neff induction cooktop + oven (both of which are lovely to cook on). One surprise i am happy about: Retrieved my power meter from my old house and set it up. With a nice sunny day the solar generates enough power to cover everything in the house running, including the ducted AC. The ducted only pulls about 1.3kw in it's lowest power mode (after it reaches temperature) so it is rather cheap to run. Time will tell I suppose. Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13773 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 4348 yes it does, you've just not understood it. theres a difference. 4 5325 |
