There is a UBE house building in my estate at a moment, when i went there 2 weeks ago, they only started the site cutting and installing temp fence.. Yesterday when i went there again, they have slab completed already... i am amazed how quick they are.. At least Thuy didn't feel stressed or something on that day... would be bad for a pregnant woman to worry to much. Really hope you get your keys before the end of the month! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: Urbanedge Larne - Letter box trouble! (updated Sep 7) 205Oct 19, 2008 8:36 am Thanks everyone!
There is still something in the back of my head that worries that we missed something REALLY major. But for the life of me I can't think of anything. Just that almost went too well ....... VJ At least Thuy didn't feel stressed or something on that day... would be bad for a pregnant woman to worry to much. We're fully expecting the place to fall down around our ears in a year or two!!! Alan and Thuy in Melbourne Building a second time! Re: Urbanedge Larne - Letter box trouble! (updated Sep 7) 207Oct 28, 2008 9:32 am OK! Final inspection is booked in for tomorrow!! Woo hoo!
We're actually pretty lucky that we're in no hurry to get out of our current place (we own the apartment and will rent it out when we leave). I can certainly understand why people who are renting HATE the last month or so of building. Every time you think you're done, there is another week to wait! The last month or so has really really really gone slowly. Just painful that the place was practically ready to move into a month ago, and each week it just drags out a bit longer....giờ dây chun!!! (i think that is right...my vietnamese isn't that good!) Our neighbours who also built with Urbanedge at the same time as us are already in, making us very jealous! We've had a bit of a hold up with our theatre room door. Apparently it was damage when it was delivered 5 weeks ago and they have to build another one... I guess having massive custom built sliding doors wasn't such a great idea afterall! We have our occupancy permit, and the bank should be doing their inspection this week. We're praying that we get our keys by Friday so that we can have the long weekend to move... but I think that may be wishful thinking In other news, we had our 20 week scan yesterday, and because we are terrible at keeping secrets, I thought I'd let everyone know that we're having a boy Of course, I would've been thrilled with a daughter... but I think now I can safely say I'm MORE thrilled that we're having a son Alan and Thuy in Melbourne Building a second time! (updated Sep 7) 213Oct 28, 2008 12:21 pm My father in law (and my wife) say it all the time, it means something along the lines of "elastic time". When someone says something will be 10 minutes and after 10 minutes they say, just another 5 minutes, and the time just keeps on stretching. It sums up the building experience perfectly I think

(updated Sep 7) 218Oct 30, 2008 9:41 am OK, this is getting annoying now!
We had our final inspection yesterday, and my camera was FLAT! This time totally my fault, because last time I downloaded all the photos to my computer I must've left the camera on. So STILL no photos!!! And this is from the guy who has taken (let me check...) nearly 600 photos of the construction!! Now the damned things finished and I don't have any photos! GAH! ok... now that I have that out of my system.... We weren't terribly thrilled with our final inspection. A lot of the minor stuff has been fixed, like paintwork and shelves with scratches etc... but we're quite disappointed to see that some of the fairly major stuff hasn't been done yet. They're all supposed to be getting fixed today, however... but it's been a week and a half since our first inspection, and they should've been done by now. These were things like, one of the sliding doors isn't aligned, some roof tiles are damaged (and have been marked for replacement for about 2 months now). The theatre room door was only just put on yesterday and isn't fully painted yet. None of it is major stuff... and as the guy explained, he was hoping to get us in before the long weekend (which won't happen anyway).... but still would've been nice to have everything done already. None of it is major, however, and overall we're still extremely happy with the house... just a shame to get a little bit of a sour taste right at the end. So, appliances will be delivered next wednesday... we've been screwed over by the long weekend And we'll move in Thursday. I will have the camera charged and ready to go wednesday and i PROMISE I will have photos! Depending on how things look next Wednesday for handover, I should be giving Urbanedge an overall good mark for their build! Alan and Thuy in Melbourne Building a second time!
