Look forward to seeing progress photos soon Re: Ben Trager Sunshine Burns Beach Build 405Aug 14, 2015 4:03 pm How's it all going Druid, bet it's moving really quick now your in control! I've been told we need to have our splashback installed before handover, did they cover this under their insurance when you did yours or did you have to take out your own policy? Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Ben Trager Sunshine Burns Beach Build 406Aug 15, 2015 3:49 pm Hi Archetto, yes splashbacks have to be fitted before hand over, but watch out, they dont know the rules, they use the word splasbacks very loosly, for starters my cook top has a 6mm toughened glass window as a splashback, so thats good enough, my kitchen sink is on an island bench so no splasback needed, it was only my laundry trough that needed a splashback, but you could use left over tiles from your bathrooms and just put one row with minimal adhesive & no grout, this way you can just pop them off when you need to. I had my glass fitted at my risk, builder would not cover them, I arranged to have them fitted at PCI, that way they were only installed for two weeks before handover. The first two weeks we did all the painting, 80sq/m of living area floor tiling, carpets & blinds, we only actually moved in this week which didnt start well, I dont have a driveway yet as I have arranged for exposed agg to get laid so my driveway is still a sand pit, my first trip with a thrifty moving van was a disaster, I needed to get close to the garage to unload a big heavy tool box, the van got bogged in the soft sand and in my frustration I managed to reverse the van into the garage gutter & destroyed it, so now I have a brand new house with repair work needed already ![]() Re: Ben Trager Sunshine Burns Beach Build 407Aug 15, 2015 6:01 pm We have a window splashback too and they are doing our laundry one so I'm not going to install our glass one then until handover as I don't want to risk it and sounds like they can't make us!
