Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 09, 2014 1:26 am Hi all. After weeks of reading just about every thing in this forum i have decided to start something myself. I have finished selections and have 2nd stage council approval. The area im building in is still in development, has been this way for a fair while, construction services seem to think civil works will be completed in 6 weeks so will have to wait and see. Cant wait for the build to start. As this is my first house and in this on my own I have chosen the Marino from statesman homes, size is good for just me Re: Statesman build Barossa Estate 2Aug 09, 2014 1:58 am Selections Exterior Brickwork: Austral Grange - Mortar yellow sand Colourbond roof: Monument Panel Glide garage door: Oxford style in Surfmist Zincalume gutters: Monument Window finishes: Deep Brunswick Green Stone Veneer to portico piers: Aspen Mist Timber beam to portico: Taubmans Smoke Haze Interior Paint: Gemini Silver, Dulux tranquil retreat and wattyl Paris skies to select walls after handover (gotta love having mates in interior design) Ceilings/cornices: white Door furniture: satin stainless steel whitco bell Floor coverings hallway/living: to be done after handover, its a choice between Rio Limestone (183019) and Cementum Bianco Textured (49341) Floor coverings bedrooms: carpet sweet dreams; cloud burst 548 Kitchen benchtop: essastone french black Bathroom Benchtop laminate: Laminex Dark Wengeblock Diamondgloss Door laminate: egger Parchment Splashback: after handover - Mos Glass Crys Laser Metallic tiles - 165080 Electric fan forced oven, gas cooktop stainless steel Bathroom sinks: symphony Accessories: removed, doing after handover. Before i forget does anyone know whats happening with the NBN in the Barossa estate. The NBNco website states that its available down Moore avenue but not in the new development. I tried contracting construction services about this and they didnt seem to know anything. Would love to get the NBN at my place once its built. Re: Statesman build Barossa Estate 4Aug 09, 2014 2:33 am The almighty fridge Microwave the fencing im looking in to getting for the side of the house- Oxford profile Anyway thats enough for now, trying to find plants that cope well in highly reactive soils that dont have deep root systems. Also looking in to a skylight for the hallway to brighten it up a bit. Found a few options but nothing has me sold yet. Re: Statesman build Barossa Estate 5Aug 09, 2014 10:45 am Looks great! Good for you Btam! We've got the NBN in our new estate (at Golden Grove). So immensely excited about that. I think it's a tragedy that it's been chopped off at the knees ... what a lost opportunity. Anyway, we've got it and that just too good as far as I'm concerned! Nice plan. Just checked Statesman's site, you've not change anything except garage? How's your façade I wonder. Love your stone choice. Curious about your façade now. Congratulations on your journey. I'm looking forward to seeing it progress Re: Statesman build Barossa Estate 7Aug 11, 2014 1:52 am Hi btam, also building Statesman in Barossa Estate so I'll be following your thread with keen interest. Your selections look great, I like that you've got your fridge sorted. Re: Statesman build Barossa Estate 8Aug 11, 2014 3:03 pm Update: Road curbing is finally done, fantastic to see some work being done on the land. Also contacted NBNCO about the NBN rollout in the Barossa Estate, Stages 5 and 6 are registered with stage 5 starting next year. So great to hear the NBN will be expanded in the Barossa Estate. Re: Statesman build Barossa Estate 10Aug 11, 2014 3:45 pm When I was going through facade options with my building consultant I mentioned to him that i didnt want render (All my friends have rendered facades so wanted something a little different) He suggested doing the double hung windows across the front with stone pillars for the portico, which worked out great. Would have been cheaper to go with the render but i like the stone. Planning on using the same stone veneer to do a box garden in the front yard. Re: Statesman build Barossa Estate 11Aug 11, 2014 3:48 pm Hi shmishmell, Great to find someone else building in the barossa estate. I have checked out your build and wow, looks amazing. Cant wait for things to start happening Re: Statesman build Barossa Estate 12Aug 11, 2014 3:55 pm TomCat How exciting. Good for you Btam! We've got the NBN in our new estate (at Golden Grove). I'm looking forward to seeing it progress Hi Tomcat Lucky you getting the NBN, cant wait to get it my self. Yea the only things i have changed are the windows in the main bedroom and ensuite bathroom, moved the sliding door in the living room and added a hilite window. Re: Statesman build Barossa Estate 13Aug 28, 2014 5:23 pm Build looks good. We had NBn if we wanted at our house but we didn't have $1030 to spare at the time to get it connected, surely the wires will be put in shortly in your part of the street. Are you allowed fences at the front of your houses now? We weren't allowed to when we built but I did hear they may have been changing it. Re: Statesman build Barossa Estate 14Aug 28, 2014 6:52 pm Sounds great. We are getting double hung windows too. And just face and feature bricks. I love the render look, it's really stylish but I love brick more (and no painting required). Re: Statesman build Barossa Estate 15Aug 29, 2014 11:43 am Went to check the site today, plenty of work done roads havent been done yet but they are leveling the land. Should be finished soon hopefully. Just a waiting game now, got a final survey once the civil works are done then gets the septic and soil removal fixed. waiting waiting waiting Re: Statesman build Barossa Estate 16Sep 01, 2014 11:36 am btam Went to check the site today, plenty of work done roads havent been done yet but they are leveling the land. Re: Statesman build Barossa Estate 17Sep 02, 2014 4:23 pm Update: Roads are all done now, sealed, bitumised. They are still leveling some of the blocks in the middle, so hopefully they will be done by end of next week. fingers crossed. Everything is looking great. Re: Statesman build Barossa Estate 18Sep 03, 2014 12:50 pm Nice selections, btam. Hope it's not long before your build can start. Re: Statesman build Barossa Estate 19Sep 03, 2014 3:26 pm Cheers Lucinda. Thought i might upload a few photos of the progress, tried to get closer but the builders gave me a dirty look. Not the best photos in the world but will do for now until the weekend, roads are in now, light polls up, curbing in. By the looks of things they are just leveling more blocks, and putting in the walking paths. Re: Statesman build Barossa Estate 20Sep 03, 2014 3:37 pm How exciting! You're not long away from settlement then... when we had our footpaths put in, titles were about 4-6 weeks later. It's looking great Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17199 thank you! do we need to get this or our builder before we commence new build on the block? 2 10261 |
