Cheers P Re: Building with Visionone in Aveley - LOCK UP! 584Jul 30, 2015 12:47 am Thank you everyone for the kind words, we are so happy with the progress ![]() The house looks very much brighter now that the white set has been completed. Those sections which I was initially worried about now seem brighter as well. ![]() Question we have the same internal doors as you did you get them 25 or 28 course? Cheers P Hi Petad, our doors are the normal height as we didn't opt for the higher one to save cost, so I assume they are 25 course. Update! Today the painters came earlier in the morning to do the first coat. Ceilings, internal walls and doors are all done! ![]() Garage ceiling: Master bedroom: Dining, Kitchen and Study in the middle far end literally thru the windows: And our bath has arrived!! ![]() ![]() ![]() Our Build Thread: The "Extended" Marina by Visionone Homes Our Inspirations: Frank Lloyd Wright | Houzz Re: Building with Visionone in Aveley - LOCK UP! 585Jul 30, 2015 1:53 pm Very exciting Hootie, how big and bright is it looking now! ![]() Very exciting about the arrival of your bath, it will all be coming together very quickly by the looks of it! On the home stretch now ![]() Re: Building with Visionone in Aveley - LOCK UP! 586Jul 30, 2015 6:26 pm It's like they are power working its flying along soo pleased for you Re: Building with Visionone in Aveley - Progress after lock 587Jul 30, 2015 7:06 pm Thanks jelbell55 and Petad, yes it's really powering on at this stage and we are very pleased with the way it's going. Good on the SS for pushing things so that it moves along at this fast pace. Today's progress... Common bathroom - bath tub seems to be in place for install...starting to look like a bathroom ![]() We also spotted our shelving installed in the scullery and laundry. Also the hardiplank cladding below the skillion roof section has been installed!!! Looks great now! Wasn't expecting this to be done till later but hooray: ![]() ![]() ![]() Our Build Thread: The "Extended" Marina by Visionone Homes Our Inspirations: Frank Lloyd Wright | Houzz Re: Building with Visionone in Aveley - Progress after lock 588Jul 30, 2015 8:20 pm Awesome progress, and also yay for the cladding! The cladding really finishes off the front nicely, no more raw brick look in that area... ![]() ![]() Wow, lots of progress Hootie, you must be very pleased We are absolutely over the moon! ![]() So in our spare time, we have been researching landscaping options and I thought I'd post some of the ideas we sort of agreed on. We are going for the low maintenance, midcentury modern desert type of landscaping, modelled after the midcentury homes mostly found in Arizona. I shall include a link to our inspirations with each pic. Here are a few very rough (not to scale) indications of several options we have in mind. 1. Front Landscaping Modelled to be something similar to this in style and colour (Inspiration from this link): Option 1: Option 2: Basically the ideas behind both options are: (i) Front of Theatre/Feature wall - Crushed pea gravel after paving complimented with Cousin-it plants and stepping stones (ii) Front of Main Entry/Study - Floating stairs up leading up from street level to paving area in front of main entry, surrounded by agaves and our dragon tree in front of study. The floating steps would look similar to this (Inspiration from this link): 2. Area outside Laundry and southern side at Bedroom 4/Master Bedroom Large format concrete pavers similar to this photo (Inspiration from this link): 3. Area outside minor bedrooms (eastern side) Pavers with stone (Inspiration from this link): 4. Courtyard (to be sunken) after verandah area next to Master Bedroom Concrete pavers with stone (Inspiration from this link): 5. Front Retaining Wall - currently still undecided... We have plans to either lay a top layer of besser blocks on top of the limestone base smiliar to this: Or construct a fence similar to this: 6. Outside dining area/Alfresco Just simple artificial lawn in this are so the kids have somewhere to expand their energy lol... ![]() These are our thought so far ![]() Our Build Thread: The "Extended" Marina by Visionone Homes Our Inspirations: Frank Lloyd Wright | Houzz Re: Building with Visionone in Aveley - Progress after lock 592Jul 31, 2015 2:09 pm Jeepers Hootie - they're flying along! You're going to have cabinets before you know it! I love the idea of those floating steps. Unfortunately I'm such a clutz I could never go with something like that. I'd end up with a broken nose in no time ![]() Re: Building with Visionone in Aveley - Progress after lock 593Jul 31, 2015 7:29 pm ![]() Gorgeous!! Loving your inspirations - that's going to look amazing. The floating steps are particularly cool ![]() Thanks kellie_87, we hope so too ![]() ![]() Jeepers Hootie - they're flying along! We can't wait! ![]() Good point about the floating steps lol... ![]() Today's update! We got a coat of paint in the bedroom areas...so nice to see some colour go up on those white walls...the areas will be more defined when the contrasting colours for the living areas are done... Quite a bit of work has been done this week and we are very pleased.... ![]() Our Build Thread: The "Extended" Marina by Visionone Homes Our Inspirations: Frank Lloyd Wright | Houzz Re: Building with Visionone in Aveley - Progress after lock 594Jul 31, 2015 8:59 pm The paint colour is gorgeous Hootie! I like your idea for the minor bedrooms side, we are thinking of doing the same thing on our kitchen/living/dining side Thanks Ourmansion! We have a similar contrasting colour scheme at our current house, and it appeals to us so we decided on the same arrangement with colour in the new home. ![]() ![]() Love all your landscaping ideas Hootie, can't wait to see it all finished! Paint colour looks superb ![]() ![]() Thanks jelbell55, the colour is Taubmans Stone Patino. We chose this colour ourselves to contrast with the kitchen/living/dining areas where we picked the colour from one of Visionone Home's display in Butler. Our Build Thread: The "Extended" Marina by Visionone Homes Our Inspirations: Frank Lloyd Wright | Houzz Re: Building with Visionone in Aveley - Progress after lock 597Aug 01, 2015 1:02 am Love the colours very similar to what we have chosen. If I had floating steps the girlfriends would be going upside down after a tipple or two (actually a lot really lol) it's not a good look as they do it often.. Re: Building with Visionone in Aveley - Progress after lock 598Aug 01, 2015 8:21 am I like Option 2 but with the round stepping stones of option 1 ![]() Re: Building with Visionone in Aveley - Progress after lock 599Aug 03, 2015 2:16 pm Thank you Petad and MalSannie, my wife and I had a chuckle at the comments about the floating stairs (not meant to be at anyone's expense) in that we might be that clumsy as well...lol...oh well, we'll have to train ourselves to be more aware of stairs that "float" ![]() My wife's just been to the site and we have cabinets delivered! She is really excited as she can now expect to see the kitchen take shape... http://i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y437/Hootie1/cabinets_zpswraptkwy.jpg All our cabinets doors/drawers will have no handles as we have asked the builder to incorporate finger wedges (not sure if that's the correct term for them) in the cabinet doors. From top left clockwise: Kitchen drawers and tall pantry -> Common bathroom cabinet and sink -> Pantry low cabinets -> Ensuite laminate sink benchtop -> Kitchen top hung cabinets. We are particularly pleased with how the cabinet laminate turned out and also our choice of the Kohler sink (will also have the same sink in the Ensuite)... One urgent issue we will have to get in contact with the SS for is that the gap in the slab in the Scullery and Laundry has not been filled in yet...(This has been sorted! ![]() Our Build Thread: The "Extended" Marina by Visionone Homes Our Inspirations: Frank Lloyd Wright | Houzz Re: Building with Visionone in Aveley - Cabinets! 600Aug 03, 2015 6:57 pm As of this afternoon, the kitchen cabinets and island have been installed! http://i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y437/Hootie1/P1080377_zps0m9buv3b.jpg http://i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y437/Hootie1/13_zpsevvvqina.jpg Essastone top will be installed on the island at a later date.... ![]() ![]() ![]() Cabinet installer worked long today...here are the other areas with the cabinets installed: http://i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y437/Hootie1/collage3_zpsqxz2gefy.jpg From top right clockwise: Common bathroom -> Ensuite with basins on -> Scullery low cabinets -> Laundry trough cabinet and worktop....
