Question we have the same internal doors as you did you get them 25 or 28 course?

Thank you everyone for the kind words, we are so happy with the progress ::celeb::

We wanted our entry hallway to make a statement and hopefully it's getting there...now thinking about the decor in that area too and considering what we'll do eventually....

The house looks very much brighter now that the white set has been completed. Those sections which I was initially worried about now seem brighter as well.

Hi Petad, our doors are the normal height as we didn't opt for the higher one to save cost, so I assume they are 25 course.

Update! Today the painters came earlier in the morning to do the first coat. Ceilings, internal walls and doors are all done! ::celeb::

Thanks jelbell55 and Petad, yes it's really powering on at this stage and we are very pleased with the way it's going. Good on the SS for pushing things so that it moves along at this fast pace.

Today's progress...

Common bathroom - bath tub seems to be in place for install...starting to look like a bathroom ::celeb::

They also seem to have done the cut ins for the paint:

We also spotted our shelving installed in the scullery and laundry.

Also the hardiplank cladding below the skillion roof section has been installed!!! Looks great now! Wasn't expecting this to be done till later but hooray:

Wow, lots of progress Hootie, you must be very pleased

We are absolutely over the moon! ::lol::

So in our spare time, we have been researching landscaping options and I thought I'd post some of the ideas we sort of agreed on.

We are going for the low maintenance, midcentury modern desert type of landscaping, modelled after the midcentury homes mostly found in Arizona. I shall include a link to our inspirations with each pic. Here are a few very rough (not to scale) indications of several options we have in mind.

1. Front Landscaping

Modelled to be something similar to this in style and colour (Inspiration from this link):

Option 1:

Option 2:

Basically the ideas behind both options are:

(i) Front of Theatre/Feature wall - Crushed pea gravel after paving complimented with Cousin-it plants and stepping stones
(ii) Front of Main Entry/Study - Floating stairs up leading up from street level to paving area in front of main entry, surrounded by agaves and our dragon tree in front of study.

The floating steps would look similar to this (Inspiration from this link):

2. Area outside Laundry and southern side at Bedroom 4/Master Bedroom

Large format concrete pavers similar to this photo (Inspiration from this link):

3. Area outside minor bedrooms (eastern side)

Pavers with stone (Inspiration from this link):

4. Courtyard (to be sunken) after verandah area next to Master Bedroom

Concrete pavers with stone (Inspiration from this link):

5. Front Retaining Wall - currently still undecided...

We have plans to either lay a top layer of besser blocks on top of the limestone base smiliar to this:

Or construct a fence similar to this:

6. Outside dining area/Alfresco

Just simple artificial lawn in this are so the kids have somewhere to expand their energy lol... ::hyst::

I love the idea of those floating steps. Unfortunately I'm such a clutz I could never go with something like that. I'd end up with a broken nose in no time b-(

nikkis2000, I think you made quite an accurate prediction! Apparently the painter told my wife that the cabinets could possibly arrive on Monday! We can't wait! ::celeb::

Today's update! We got a coat of paint in the bedroom areas...so nice to see some colour go up on those white walls...the areas will be more defined when the contrasting colours for the living areas are done...

Quite a bit of work has been done this week and we are very pleased.... ::celeb::

Thanks Ourmansion! We have a similar contrasting colour scheme at our current house, and it appeals to us so we decided on the same arrangement with colour in the new home. ::cool::

Thanks jelbell55, the colour is Taubmans Stone Patino. We chose this colour ourselves to contrast with the kitchen/living/dining areas where we picked the colour from one of Visionone Home's display in Butler.

Love the colours very similar to what we have chosen.
If I had floating steps the girlfriends would be going upside down after a tipple or two (actually a lot really lol) it's not a good look as they do it often..

I like Option 2 but with the round stepping stones of option 1

The floating steps are a good idea it'll look lovely but I'd find it hazardous too being as clumsy as I am. Love the painting!

Thank you Petad and MalSannie, my wife and I had a chuckle at the comments about the floating stairs (not meant to be at anyone's expense) in that we might be that clumsy as well...lol...oh well, we'll have to train ourselves to be more aware of stairs that "float" ::lol::

My wife's just been to the site and we have cabinets delivered! She is really excited as she can now expect to see the kitchen take shape...

All our cabinets doors/drawers will have no handles as we have asked the builder to incorporate finger wedges (not sure if that's the correct term for them) in the cabinet doors.

From top left clockwise:

Kitchen drawers and tall pantry -> Common bathroom cabinet and sink -> Pantry low cabinets -> Ensuite laminate sink benchtop -> Kitchen top hung cabinets.

We are particularly pleased with how the cabinet laminate turned out and also our choice of the Kohler sink (will also have the same sink in the Ensuite)...

One urgent issue we will have to get in contact with the SS for is that the gap in the slab in the Scullery and Laundry has not been filled in yet...(This has been sorted! As usual we had a quick and comprehensive reply from the SS.)
