Thanks all

we are loving watching the house take shape....

According to what our SS told us previously, we have ceilings -> white set -> windows/doors -> lockup...

Suddenly it seems that we have not long more to go to lock up....so exciting!

Alas we were hoping that Nearmaps would capture the plate height stage so we could see the rooms as defined by the bricks, but never mind...stoked to see a house standing where a vacant plot of land once was!

Will be going up to the house tomorrow to have a closer look during daylight ::celeb::

Hi Natalie92, I paid $79 for a year's subscription which allows 50MB of usage per month. Not much really in terms of usage allowance as you will use it up pretty quickly viewing a couple of areas.

You can also see the latest photo of your property free if you use the Property Search tab in Nearmaps, then key in your address. However the free access does not allow you to access historical photos of your property.

I figured that the house will be built within a year and for now, do not plan to renew my subscription when it expires... ::wink::

It is very exciting JnM, we can't wait! ::celeb::

So we went down to the site today and checked out what's been done. Grey float looks good and we are very happy with the progress so far.

However we spotted 2 issues which we will seek clarification with the SS:

1) Light seeping thru roof sheets - Not sure why this would occur, but if you look at the pic below you will see what I mean:

I've started a thread in another section seeking advice and comments from the kind H1 people here...

2) Length of wall for kitchen cabinet is shorter than in plan

The length of the wall which will house our top hung cabinets, hob and bottom cabinets on plan is 3500mm but when we measured the wall today it was 3450 after the grey float was applied. My wife is slightly worried that because of this difference, there will have to shave off some length from the cabinetry.

We will address this with the SS next week....

Internal dimensions are normally given as the distance between the structure (not allowing for wall finishes). On a timber frame, that is the dimension between the frames and the plasterboard lining then reduces that dimension by around 20-25mm total.

It might be the same thing for yours, where the dimension is brick-to-brick and the render reduces this.

Cabinet makers will typically do a site measure once everything is in place and construct accordingly as there can be many little variances for whatever reason.

Normal to see some light seeping through under the ridge capping on a colourbond roof

I am hoping so and can also understand what the other have posted in another thread on the topic I posted [url=started a thread in another section]here[/url].

The SS has been contacted about the light thru the roofing and he will check the items we listed for us.

Today my wife spotted someone making notes on the wall, so in effect the "writing's on the wall"!! Which apparently means the start of ceilings? We hope.

Cheers Petad, we are happy that it is moving along now, just a few niggles here and there, but ur SS is always pretty responsive in sorting them out.

We took the chance to go to the house today after the heavy rains to see if there would be anything in regards to the roofing that we would need to be aware of and this is what we found:

1) Roofing needs tidy up in some areas:

The first photo is viewing from the front of the house. The pitched roof joins to a flat room behind the pier and we seem to feel that the install needs to be cleaner?

Issues we spotted -
a) Top circle - flashing install need to be neater?
b) Middle circle - There is a huge gap between where the corrugated roof sheets ends and the flat roof sheet...
c) 2nd circle from bottom - Roof sheet edge needs to be secured?
d) Bottom circle - Gutter dented....

2) Leak in garage ceiling:

The gap in the roof sheet in b) could have led to water leaking into the garage ceiling board?

3) Is this normal method of ridge capping?

Then there is this...is it normal to have the ridge capping screwed onto the corrugated sheet in this manner?:

4) More leaks?

This was spotted between bedrooms 2 and 3. Logically, our thinking is that with the downpipes in place, fresh leaks like these should not occur?

We will highlight these points to the SS at our next opportunity.

On the bright side.....we have some work done on the upcoming bulkheads and gyprock has been delivered! Which means ceilings should start soon! ::celeb::

Hi Hootie I would want it perfect I really would not like rain coming in it would be more than annoying. I was always taught if a jobs worth doing do it right the first time.... sounds easy enough ::wink::

I also noticed on your time frame we signed our PPA at the same time

Hey Petad, can't believe how time flies! It seems faster sometimes when one is building. Already July and we started the process purchasing the land only one year ago...and now we have most of the house sitting on it!

Positive thing is that our SS has been super responsive in our queries about the roof issues. He has seen the photos that I've emailed to him and he will get on it asap. The H1 forum people have also been invaluable in giving their opinions and comments about the issue.

Today we have most of the ceilings done! The tradies will be coming back tomorrow to complete some ceilings and install the remaining cornices.

What a difference having ceilings make! So happy to see the progress today!

The guys were still working past sunset and are from China...was funny that several short conversations we had with them were naturally in Mandarin, but we left them to finish up as they seemed very focus on the job... ::smile::

They are flying along Hootie, now that you have the roof, you don't have to worry about the rain slowing things down. Glad your SS is quick to respond, I am sure the issues will be sorted out soon.
