Our gutters and eaves went on before the roof too. ![]() Looking good!!!! Fingers crossed that roof goes on today or early next week for you ![]() Cheers....and it's finally started!!! Our roof cover was partially installed today so we are having a partial colorbond moment...a bit difficult to do in the dark of the night but nonetheless we are please we chose Shale Grey for the roof! ![]() ooo downpipes ![]() ![]() Haha yeah there are quite a few of those downpipes, including 2 hidden ones in the front elevation ![]() ![]() Your house looks amazing Hootie and it's all coming together nicely and quickly!Looking forward to following the rest of your journey ![]() ![]() Just realised that I am in the same boat as you with the sliding doors! Our plans are marked as 870 SD, I just assumed that was the actual opening ![]() Thanks Ourmansion! And yeah, the sliding door issue is kinda tricky isn't it? At least the opening is going to be 820 for yours, so it's quite ok. So here are some pics from this evening. Partial roof cover was done to the garage, minor bedrooms, dining, kitchen and looks like full cover to the theatre and main entry. It's amazing what a difference roof cover makes to a room. Here are some pics (sorry for the quality as I had to use flash!): 1) Main Entry: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 2) Theatre: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 3) Side facing secondary street: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ In our last week we had some retail therapy ![]() Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We have also started to think about the landscaping and in keeping with the mix of desert landscape and Japanese style, we are considering these plants: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Top left - Dragon Tree; Top right - Cactus!!; Bottom - Different types of bamboo.... Our latest inspirations online are: 1) The Design Files - Australian Homes 2) Walk Among The Homes Fingers crossed that the weather for the next 3 days (will be showers and possible storms) would not be too bad so that at least some work can continue on the roof cover before the weekend! ![]() Our Build Thread: The "Extended" Marina by Visionone Homes Our Inspirations: Frank Lloyd Wright | Houzz Re: Re: Building with Visionone in Aveley - Roof cover start 403Jun 16, 2015 10:17 pm Woohoo roofs all round ![]() Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Re: Building with Visionone in Aveley - Roof cover start 404Jun 16, 2015 10:20 pm ![]() Woohoo roofs all round ![]() Yes! Btw what is the issue with your sliding doors? I can't find the post where you mentioned it Thanks archetto - here is the link to the discussion. Basically for sliding doors, the width that is indicated on the plan is the door size and the opening size is 50mm smaller than that size. There are also standard sizes to sliding doors and anything else is a custom job. For normal doors, the size indicated on the plan is the size of the frame opening as well as the width of the door. It's one of those things we wished we knew from the beginning ![]() Our Build Thread: The "Extended" Marina by Visionone Homes Our Inspirations: Frank Lloyd Wright | Houzz Re: Re: Building with Visionone in Aveley - Roof cover start 408Jun 16, 2015 11:00 pm ![]() Great news about the roof!! Looking great, your entrance is amazing ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks jelbell55, we love the entrance as well ,can't wait to see it when its finished ![]() The ottoman is a chance purchase as we seldom shop at Myer, but this time our girl wanted to get a rubik's cube from the toy section, so we "had" to go there... ![]() ![]() For the bamboo, we had a chat with the nursery people and if you keep them in planter boxes, their root growth would be controlled and confined to the size of the planter box. There are also 2 types of bamboo, runners and clumpers...so based on what you want to use them for, you would choose the appropriate type. We might end up with a runner type bamboo for fence screening, but they will be kept in planter boxes, not put in the ground. In this way, we won't need to worry about out of control root systems, but yet enjoy the bamboo screening. ![]() Our Build Thread: The "Extended" Marina by Visionone Homes Our Inspirations: Frank Lloyd Wright | Houzz Re: Re: Building with Visionone in Aveley - Roof cover start 409Jun 16, 2015 11:04 pm I'm still confused, sorry, have the flu! We have wooden sliding doors to our Scullery/Laundry and Ensuite instead of normal opening doors. Phew, but that's a shame about your doors, never knew that either! Yeah woke up with it today, not feeling so good! No worries ![]() The only thing was that if you have stacker doors, make sure it indicates as "STACKED DOOR" in the plan and not "SD", which indicated the normal sliding doors. Re: Re: Building with Visionone in Aveley - Roof cover start 416Jun 17, 2015 11:25 am Hey Hootie, congrats on the progress! Some good information you have given there too. I've just had another good look at your plan in more detail, and wow! what a plan. Every little detail is amazing. I love the veranda and the set up of your master bedroom and en suite. Very well thought out. I can not wait to see your finishing pictures, such good taste and eye for detail. Very well thought out. I can not wait to see your finishing pictures, such good taste and eye for detail. Thanks Lozel, my wife and I had fun putting in the details for the house. It helped that we had a friend to give us some advice and also a sales consultant who was able to translate our requirements into the plan. It's exciting to see the ideas come to life during the build and we cannot wait for it to be done either ![]() ![]() Thanks for the helpful info Hootie, I am learning lots off you!! ![]() ![]() ![]() My pleasure jelbell55! It's all a learning experience and we are happy to share. My wife and I are glad that we are going through this build too as there is much to learn...one of the biggest thing we have learnt to far is "PATIENCE" ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Yaay for partial CB moment!! Right on MalSannie, I would agree to definitely control the growth of the bamboo and have the running variety only if you have the space to let it grow. With a small backyard, planter boxes would be a better option. We might have to choose a runner variety because we like the stem of it compared to some of the clumping types. The dragon tree is magnificent! The one pictured is $700 (and 15 years old), but we are probably getting a smaller one at ard $200 or so. It's a little shorter and half the age of the one pictured. ![]() It's hard to catch everything, we're only human. And after a certain period of time you get sick of it and slack off, or at least I did. Yay for roof though! The shale grey looks great. ![]() Yaay for partial CB moment!! Thanks trixee and nikkis2000! Unfortunately up to this time today, that's all the colorbond moment we've got! Not sure what the reason is, but there has been no action on site since that day ![]() ![]() We get fortnightly updates from the builder and this last fortnight (from 8 June to 19 June) is the first time that there has been that many jobs still pending by the end of the period. Usually they are prompt in completing the fortnightly list of tasks: Fortnightly schedule of tasks (8 June to 19 June): 1) Home automation wiring install - Completed 2) Brick clean - Not done 3) Electrician wiring - Completed 4) Plumbing tube out - Completed 5) Plasterer's sand delivery - Not done UPDATE 19 June: Delivered! 6) Roof cover - About 1/3 done?! The rest...?? 7) Insulation install - Not done UPDATE 19 June: Started in theatre and main entry! Who knows what the delay could be due to...bad weather, scheduling problems, trades on holiday...my wife and I have decided to stop making assumptions. ![]() ![]() ![]() So unless they can complete all of the above tasks by tomorrow (Friday) - or catch up further down the track- we are preparing ourselves that there might be a delay in the overall schedule.
