Seeing the front come together is so exciting! Fingers crossed they'll finish next week!

It is very exciting trixee...yesterday evening I walked into the structure from the side of the front door, felt like coming "home"...although there is no roof yet but the general feeling was there! ::smile::

Plate height meeting has been booked for 19 May! I believe the SS said that the bricks would be completed by the end of next week. The meeting was originally to have been sometime during the week starting 11 May but we postponed it because my wife will be overseas that week....very thrilled to have a plate height meeting date and at the rate is going.

Today we found that we had more walls done between the Garage/Study and Study/Main entrance:

Also part of the internal Theater walls went up as well as the Theater window frames! We can now see the outline of how the "Fallingwater" inspired windows would look like in the Theater:

Update: Bricks Day 18 - 1 May 2015

Today work started on our boundary garage wall. Part of the 3rd garage wall will be built on this limestone retaining wall and we were told by the brickies that they needed to create a level base to start with. Bricks had to be cut to create this base and this was time consuming work:

Interesting to see the building work on the retaining wall - we're also having this for the garage wall. I wasn't too happy about that it was originally going to be 20cm away but for some reason they put it there. I thought it might be cheaper but looking at that it would seem more work/more expense? Thankfully our neighbours also have their garage there so hopefully they'll not mind too much! Your brickwork seems almost done - wow how exciting.

We used to have 8 cats for a couple of years before our son was born so maybe they are back to keep an eye on the build? Lol... ::lol::

The brickies also erected the feature wall between the Entry and the Dining. This is part of the wall that's visible when looking in from the front entry:

So this is the feature wall just after the entry viewed from the Theatre entrance. We have a small recessed area where we plan to display our 1950s radio that I was given by my uncle:

Thanks trixee and jlo1990, the radio has quite a bit of character. It's AM only and that old crackly sound when it's turned on to broadcast. Closing one's eyes, you might think you have been transported back to that era.

Update: Bricks Day 20 - 5 May 2015

Today we got more walls done.

This is the study/entry common wall, left side wall after the opening:

This is the wall that separates the Scullery/Laundry shelves and linen cupboard:

We also managed to clarify with the builder the issue of our Scullery door. We are now getting an 870 wide pelmet type sliding door instead of an 820, and the shelves in the Scullery will be shortened to fit. There was an error in the plans and the initial correction in the plan would have seen us having to accept a 770 wide door frame with an 820 wide sliding door. We were not going to accept a reduction in the door opening width, even if it was the Scullery. However, the builder again came through and offered us an option that we were happy with. Good on them!

Thanks kellie_87! You're right, it's great to be able to stand in a room and feel the size. It was only on the plans all this time and now we see it for real. There was no display home for the model we are building and we had also changed the original plans quite a bit ::wink::

We chose Roman bricks laid in third bond pattern for the brick laying as a tribute to Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House. Once the bricks have been cleaned, they will look great.
