wow small world ... you should take this opportunity to request more then .. ie phone line, internet cable and what ever else to be laid in that trench so you get a cable less house.

DH is going on a business trip to Perth and we're trying to sweet talk the MIL into babysitting our tribe for a few days so I could tag along. Might have to add a trip to Rottnest and take a selfie

He's a cutie Nikkis! I think I've been ripped off, every time I've been to Rotto the quokkas have always seemed a little dazed and confused. Maybe now that they're getting selfies they're waking up!

Also, got some great news today. Weather permitting, bricks should be delivered tomorrow, then frames on Tuesday. Brickwork to start some time next week after the team finishes their current job! It's getting real, folks! Now I need to stop faffing about and make some more decisions.

If he says he knows what he's doing, I'm sure he does. It doesn't look complicated, just messy. The main thing would be getting the pipes in the right place. We might also dig it up and have another look after handover, before we start landscaping, just to be sure...

No actual date for brickies, as it will depend on when they finish the other job, but SS seems confident that it will be sometime next week.

We are doing ours as well using polypropylene ones as they are 65% more efficient than the concrete ones the builder offered.

So exciting about the bricks trixee, bet you cannot wait to start seeing it take shape!

We didn't get a choice in the type of soakwell. To be honest, seeing as I didn't know anything about them before, I would have just said "whatever"!

I'm getting more excited by the minute, and also quietly freaking out about deciding on tapware! Oh, and the hot water system! argh!

trixee I knew zilch about them as well. Hubby is the one doing all the home work on them lol.

the good news about tapware and hot water system is if the build process is the same as ours, we have neither of those two things yet. So you have time to decide. But not too much time.
My vote for HWS: Go hybrid hot water / PV system

I'm considering that Yvonne! We've decided against gas-boosted hot water at any rate, and we're definitely getting PV panels anyway. I just need to research it more thoroughly, which I've been putting off! I've got a spreadsheet so far with names on it, that's about it. I'm finding it hard to figure out what to compare things on.

It is getting real trixee. Once those bricks start it'll start to fly i think. I thought tapware was a tough decision. Everything i thought i liked just from looking online i hated in person

TCO (Total cost of ownership) based on a x year timeframe (for replacements etc)

btw did you see the news about Tesla doing home battery technology?? Offgrid here I come
(We already have a off grid holiday home which I LOVE so definitely keen to go offgrid electricity wise at the new house when we can afford PVs and more importantly batteries)
