The marble splashback was about $1000 or maybe $1500 (I forget exactly) more than the glass splashback option.

Congrats on the slab Trixee. The slab at front corner looks quite deep, is it an illusion on the photos or is it part of the design?

Those laundry tiles are incredible trixee!! I am with Matt on the whole matte look

I love shiny things too but matte fixtures and fittings look far more luxurious and expensive IMO with just a few bit of shiny thrown in. Love all your colour choices I am not a marble fan at all but yours looks lovely. Really looking forward to seeing your house come together!

Thanks D_rail! No it's not an illusion, we dropped the footings at the front so the house would sit a bit higher.

How long was the day to choose the tiles?

Thanks Yvonne! All up it took about 5 hours, but he only charged me for 4. It helped to have a solid idea for the kitchen, and everything flowed from that. He also spent a bit of time writing everything up so I wouldn't forget.

Great Trixee. By the look of the colour of the slab you have on your blog it looks like it has been sealed with a retardant. My slab had the same and it looks very dark and then changes colour over about a week or so.

Maybe someone more informed can chip in. When the crew poured mine I was seeing whether I needed to water the slab and they recommended it if it was sealed with a retardant.

If its going to be very hot you can put sand around the edges and then turn the hose on to fill it like a little pool.

So exciting......

Yep sNd around the edge makes a nice firm little edge and that's "ponding" Trixee. I found though that by the time it was all wet and about under 1-2cm the wind would start to evaporate it! It's also good to do it once to check where your high and low points are on your pad (if any).

Yeah I was thinking that with the high evaporation rates it might take a fair bit of water! Checking for high and low points seems like a good idea, it looks pretty even though. Hard to tell I guess.
