Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 603Feb 22, 2015 8:05 am I think our Bermuda wastes were $40? But that was with the tile company. So no builders margin. Prices sound right-ish...
Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 604Feb 22, 2015 8:07 am What windows are getting the translucent laminated glazing? Ours was less than that by far. But it was also separate as we had all our windows laminated and the bathroom type windows upgraded to translucent. Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 605Feb 22, 2015 2:01 pm ![]() What windows are getting the translucent laminated glazing? Ours was less than that by far. But it was also separate as we had all our windows laminated and the bathroom type windows upgraded to translucent. The 2 shower windows. They're pretty big, I guess, full height and about a metre wide I think. viewtopic.php?t=72683 Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 606Feb 22, 2015 2:58 pm Hubby just made this exterior fly-through video for me, I'm so impressed! https://oursphouse.wordpress.com/2015/0 ... ra-action/ Gives a better idea of our landscaping thoughts at this point. It's funny how the backyard space looks so big in this, but when we were out at the block, with the sandpad constructed, it looked tiny! Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 607Feb 22, 2015 5:17 pm Very cool, well done Mr T! It will look bigger in the flesh once the walls are up to give some more perspective. Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 610Feb 22, 2015 7:20 pm That is very very cool ![]() My build thread: Custom build on 40 acres viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75656 Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 612Feb 23, 2015 5:39 am Wow that is quite impressive! Wish I knew how to do that ![]() ![]() Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 613Feb 23, 2015 7:50 am Hi trixee, I would be getting my own contractor into do a lot if that stuff after handover as it will be way cheaper. $1133 for a soak well? That is expensive, how big is it? The outside drains are very expensive! Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 614Feb 23, 2015 11:30 am The soakwell is 900x900. There's a lot of stuff we'll be doing ourselves after handover already, so am not too keen to add to the list. Especially for plumbing stuff, I'd rather the builder take responsibility for the boring stuff ![]() Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 615Feb 23, 2015 8:41 pm ![]() Some of the upgrade quotes I've received so far. These are all E/O. Do they sound reasonable? Boring stuff: 3-phase power for induction cooktop: $345 Additional soakwell: $1133 8m of Strip drains for alfresco and garage: $1080 (for black plastic) up to $3655 for fancy stainless steel Exterior: Porch hardstand: $1260 (still don't know if we want to deck or tile here) Obscure glazing upgrade to laminated translucence: $1150 Glosswood porch ceiling: $2120 (this was supposed to have been included in initial contract but it slipped our minds and so we forgot to include it! Managed to remember the alfresco, but forgot about the porch ![]() Doors: Gainsborough Enchant door handle throughout = Extra $25 each x 13 internal pull doors = $325 Omni Trilock with pull handle for front door = $454 each x 2 handles required = $908 Corinthian Deco internal doors. = $83 each x 11 internal = $913 Corinthian Deco Solid door (internal/garage) = $111 x 2 = $222 Frames upgrade to square edge: $434 Wet areas: Floor wastes to Bermuda tile insert: $345 Is the quote for obscure to toughened translucent for bathrooms or other HIGE windows? I put in a large bathroom window and changed both ensuite and bathroom to clear for $60 or there abouts!! Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 616Feb 23, 2015 8:43 pm ![]() The soakwell is 900x900. Honestly at the time we did the pre contract i didn’t even know what a soakwell was! The post handover list is already quite daunting. I put in a large bathroom window and changed both ensuite and bathroom to clear for $60 or there abouts!! I'm not sure if it's toughened. It's basically a laminated layer between 2 panes of glass. We already have clear glass around the spa bath so we can have a view while soaking in the tub (lots of dense exterior landscaping planned!) but thought that clear glass the full length of the shower would be a bit too racy! ![]() Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 618Feb 24, 2015 12:25 am What about the great all-over suntan you would have!! ![]() Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 620Feb 24, 2015 8:20 pm I too have built to passivhaus standards and use the zehnder system to ventilate my home.
