So, you guys are gonna love this. Maybe I should start a tally board.
First delay: Slab delayed until Saturday because of peak hour traffic restricting access.
Now, I don't mean to get my grumpy pants on already, but really. They had the address, they knew it was a busy road, did this never actually occur to them during the initial scheduling? ::surprise::

At least they let us know beforehand. And at least it's only a couple of days. Not a biggie in reality.

Not sure how i gave that a thumbs up but didn’t mean to and cannot figure out how to delete it

if there was a thumbs down button I'd use that. Argh that is frustrating about the delay. Hopefully you've had all the delays/errors already and it's smooth sailing from here on out. I've got faith that you'll meet that finish goal

Posting to follow, you have a great design. We are also building a solar passive house with a thermal wall, also using PVC windows etc, hope all the theory's work out!!

Oh god, I'm rhyming.

But yes, we have another delay. The grano worker sustained a sporting injury so they've gotten someone else, but he is busy this weekend so will do footings on Monday and slab on Wednesday. I say "will" but I actually mean "might". ::surprise::

Aw trixee I'm sorry. Same thing happened to us when we were due to have slab down and it's frustrating. Feel bad for the guy but bad for you too. Will there be a busy road issue on mon or wed? Fingers and toes and everything else crossed that this is THE. LAST. DELAY

Bugger but I agree if the precious guy was a sat only chances are the new guys haven't even look at the blocks I know lots of earthmovers/grano workers who use near maps to quote jobs. They do give you excellent sight of the block but not so much of the surrounding area

Sometimes the journey begins at a snail's pace (like mine!) then when things start flowing, it's almost surreal. Fingers crossed you won't have to wait too long x and will soon be finalising your selections!!!

Some of the upgrade quotes I've received so far. These are all E/O. Do they sound reasonable?

Boring stuff:
3-phase power for induction cooktop: $345
Additional soakwell: $1133
8m of Strip drains for alfresco and garage: $1080 (for black plastic) up to $3655 for fancy stainless steel

Exterior:
Porch hardstand: $1260 (still don't know if we want to deck or tile here)
Obscure glazing upgrade to laminated translucence: $1150
Glosswood porch ceiling: $2120 (this was supposed to have been included in initial contract but it slipped our minds and so we forgot to include it! Managed to remember the alfresco, but forgot about the porch

)

Doors:
Gainsborough Enchant door handle throughout = Extra $25 each x 13 internal pull doors = $325
Omni Trilock with pull handle for front door = $454 each x 2 handles required = $908
Corinthian Deco internal doors. = $83 each x 11 internal = $913
Corinthian Deco Solid door (internal/garage) = $111 x 2 = $222
Frames upgrade to square edge: $434

Wet areas:
Floor wastes to Bermuda tile insert: $345

We were quoted $764 for the pull handle front door lock w dummy handle for second door and $95 per internal door for the deco upgrade. So I'd say your costs, at least on those items, are in line with other builders.

Tile inserts (Bermuda type) vary in price $50 to $80 :-)
