Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 450Jan 09, 2015 12:52 am ![]() I have grand dreams, Rache, we shall see if they actually eventuate - I'll probably end up running out of money! You gotta dream trixee! I am the dreamer in our lot too. I love that saying 'Reach for the moon. Even if you miss you fall among the stars.' As for running out of money....doesn't that happen to everyone that builds?!!!! ![]() Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 451Jan 09, 2015 10:34 am Oooh prestart!! Such fun, I have to think it was my favourite day out of the whole build. My build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68002 Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 452Jan 09, 2015 12:38 pm You're nearly there Trixee, hang in there ![]() Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 453Jan 09, 2015 12:54 pm Thanks Burns and Trees! Our pre-start is actually spread out over a number of days, so will get a couple more days of enjoyment yet ![]() This one will be mainly to confirm the basic stuff so they can get the slab right and start ordering construction materials, so we need to be sure of placement of wastes and floor GPOs, general plumbing, and also roof and fascia colours. It should only take a couple of hours. They said if we wanted to push on with anything else though that we could, though in my experience giving away too much information at once leads to information overload confusion. Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 454Jan 09, 2015 3:05 pm I agree. It's too much in one day. That's really good that you can take your time, you won't miss anything (or at least not the really important things...something always seems to get missed unless you stick to a list ![]() Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 455Jan 15, 2015 10:03 am Was excited to read your blog post about prestart! Solid Doors! Unbelievable at that price you may as well stretch and get a wrought iron door ![]() Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 456Jan 15, 2015 10:17 am btw our supplier of doors has solid (ie non glazed) ones (you can even get the ones from Bunnings/Masters) so I'm sure your builder will be able to source some well priced ones. We are getting corinthian doors: https://www.corinthian.com.au/Products/Doors/Entry/ Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 457Jan 15, 2015 10:25 am Haha, funny thing is we're also considering getting a wrought iron door as a security door after handover ![]() Yeah the standard range is all Corinthian, the one I liked was the Infusion Blada, but that was the expensive one ![]() Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 458Jan 15, 2015 10:28 am For those that missed it, direct link to blog is here: https://oursphouse.wordpress.com/2015/01/14/prestart-1/ I was quite happy with how it went, although it highlighted how disorganised we are even after what seems like two years of planning! I'll do another post with external colour selections hopefully tonight after work. Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 459Jan 15, 2015 10:33 am Glad it went well and yay for dates!!!! The infusion blada is a good looking door but that's a crazy price for doors. Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 460Jan 15, 2015 10:35 am I nearly keeled over when I heard how much! I too have built to passivhaus standards and use the zehnder system to ventilate my home. I’m in Melbourne and can confirm that the Hrv core only conserves the energy… 40 15008 0 1036 We came across your post and it mirrors our situation.
