Sorry I've been away for so long, I didn't have internet for a couple of weeks and discovered real life again! Haha. I'll try to reply to comments and upload photos shortly, but, we moved in just before Christmas and we're loving it! Still heaps to do of course, and we're stuck with our old furniture until we get the necessities done and find more money ![]() ![]() Oh and CONGRATS on getting keys and moving in of course! ![]() Thanks BS12 - didn't go nearly as quickly as we would have liked! ![]() ![]() Wow wow how have I missed your blog!? Your house is so beautiful!! Do you mind if I ask what product your kitchen cupboard doors are? They are gorgeous Thanks MrsJM! The kitchen cupboards are Cleaf Yosemite Nero. I do like how they look, but fingerprints and smudges abound. And they chip easily. I'll go catch up on other threads, then load some pics. ![]() Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 2088Jan 22, 2016 7:21 pm Nice to hear from you Trixee. What a long road its been. It all looks amazing. Love the kitchen. ![]() Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 2093Feb 20, 2016 9:00 pm Thanks Ourmansion, Presidente, leni, and joannek! I was hoping to make a huge dent in our to-do list but it's just been too hot to get much done, so the house looks pretty much the same as it did when we moved in! The most annoying thing about the lack of progress is that the house still kinda looks like a building site, and we get all sorts of random people parking in our driveway! Our rainwater tank has finally been connected and is 1/3 full from the last rain we had, so that's nice. SHWS hasn't needed the booster since we moved in, so that's nice too! Made a bit of progress in getting quotes. It's been nice to see the bank account recover a bit but it's about to get hit again soon. The builder has given us a 12-month maintenance schedule, which is kinda nice but some things will need to be fixed before then. Still enjoying the house, will post some more pics when I have something interesting to share ![]() Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 2094Feb 20, 2016 9:28 pm Glad your enjoying everything Trixee, it takes quite a bit of time afterwards to get everything sorted.. It just feels a bit nicer underfoot to have boards in the bedrooms, although to be honest I don't mind tiles in the bedroom either. I think in winter a couple of foot-rugs would be nice for near the bed. I haven't really lived with carpeted floors much to be honest. We had carpet in the bedroom at our last place and it was nice for a while but a pain to maintain. I much prefer tiles and floorboards. I think tiles are a bit more forgiving maintenance-wise for living areas, but it's more about what you prefer. Although for us the passive solar thing came into it too - tiles absorb heat which they transfer to the slab in winter, keeping the house warmer, whereas wood insulates the slab. I'm trying to log into Tapatalk to post some photos, but it's being recalcitrant today. Hopefully will get through soon to show you the pit in progress. Im impressed! Did you do any special drainage in there? Will you pave it or something else? Im really keen to follow the progress so please keep us updated on how you're doing it. Also your tanks - can you tell its half full from the red marker thing? Or is it the shadow on the tank? I wish the standard colorbond ones had an indicator. 0 1155 We came across your post and it mirrors our situation. Have you progressed in the interim and would you have any advice for us? Thanks in advance! 40 23796 Hi Josh & Eve, thanks for the info, we have decided to play it safe and have 3 phase installed if it is available, would rather be safe than sorry. cheers, Lynne 12 5888 |
