I've got some notes somewhere of a short talk he gave about it, I'll have to dig it out later. Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1963Nov 13, 2015 5:19 pm Latest dilemma. So, basically PCI has been pushed back. The work will be done by the 20th Nov, so technically we can do PCI then, but the cleaner can't come through until the 25-26th. So we're trying to decide whether to do PCI on the 20th, or after the cleaners have been through. If we wait for the cleaners, this pushes handover back a week. Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1964Nov 13, 2015 5:26 pm You will miss things if the place is not clean but I also expect you would have some recourse with your builder if a cosmetic blemish was missed, you seem to have a good builder relationship. My2Cents Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1965Nov 13, 2015 8:28 pm Hmm... cleaning it yourself,... Have you seen yourself in person how messy it is and gauged how much effort/how long it would take you to do? If you take it early make sure you get some type of agreement in writing on how you deal with if you find something wrong after accepting practical completion and after cleaning it. Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1966Nov 13, 2015 11:45 pm After chatting with the builder (both admin and supervisor), we've decided to wait for the cleaner. It means we will have to push moving date out a few days and it will be cutting it fine (the biggest risk is the bank not paying out within that 2 week period, but we've worked out a way to expedite the final invoicing process, which we are happy with). They prefer us to wait for the cleaner as the cleaner also does final touch-ups, so they said that if we went through before the cleaner our list would be longer than if we'd waited for the cleaner. Don't know how true that is but that seems to be their reasoning. Perhaps their cleaner is more than just a cleaner! So, dates as follows: Painter 14th – 17th Nov Insulation - 16th Nov Booked and confirmed Flyscreens - 18th Nov Booked and confirmed Electrician - 18th – 19th Nov Fixing carpenter - 19th – 20th Nov Plumber - (Awaiting powder room stone install date) expecting late next week Cleaner - 25th- 26th Nov PCI - 27th Nov Keys – 11th Dec Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1967Nov 13, 2015 11:57 pm Wow Trixee you'll be in before Christmas .......Brilliant viewtopic.php?t=62083 Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1968Nov 14, 2015 12:35 am Hmmm. A cleaner that does touch ups? I'm not sure what to make of your dilemma. If you have a few days up your sleeve, I'd wait. In reality we don't really have any external forces pressuring us, just the growing realisation that the sooner we get in the sooner we can get on with things! Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1970Nov 14, 2015 1:00 am Good decision trixee. It would be a shame have unnecessary issues all for the sake of a few days. It takes such a long time to get to this point..it only seems like yesterday you were feeling sad about your old house being demolished. And look at you now! Geez we are all a bit like old friends really! Xmas in the new house...so exciting! Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1971Nov 14, 2015 3:35 am It sounds a bit odd if the cleaner is also a toucher-upper - maybe you should get his details hehe Sorry to hear it means your date moving out a bit - 11th is probably what we can hope for too realistically. We'd hoped for a week earlier as the builder's holidays apparently starts on the 18th this year! Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1972Nov 14, 2015 11:08 am I think it a good idea to wait for the cleaner, like you have done. Things looks really different pre and post clean. I mean they probably won't get the place 100% clean, but a clean anyway would make a difference. It's very exciting to know that you will be in before Christmas!!
