My build thread: Custom build on 40 acres viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75656 Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1682Sep 17, 2015 10:28 pm ![]() That is amazing, trixee! Can't wait to see the tiles ![]() ![]() Yeah I was thinking maybe something along those lines. Funny story, we were there the other day for our daily after-work look-see and the tilers were just winding up. We saw a car pull up on the verge and this old Italian couple got out of the car, carrying a bag of veggies - turned out they were one of the guys' in-laws, dropping off some of their garden harvest. I thought that was quite sweet. Also, nice to know I'm not the only one with parents that turn up a strange times! ![]() Great news on the tiling. Looking forward to some pictures! 6 weeks seems so real now doesn't it!! Hope they stick to it or as close as poss! It's a bit scary! I know I'm dying to get in, but I still would rather they not rush through and potentially stuff something up. ![]() Only just catching up now, so sorry to hear your disappointment on your cabinets, I can certainly see what you mean about the dust and fingerprints but fingers crossed they clean up ok as they are actually beautiful cabinets, I really like the grain. Thanks MnT. I think I'm over the worst of it now. I brought my enjo cloth along like ardie suggested, and did a bit of a wipe down, it's getting there! In other news, the grano is supposed to be getting poured tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to some solid floor to walk on. Can anyone recommend a good sealing product? Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1683Sep 18, 2015 1:00 am Aww trixee all the time, effort and thought you have put into everything maybe you are just over analysing yourself and the doubt comes in. I think it all looks amazing so far! Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1684Sep 18, 2015 1:03 am Trixee, it all looks amazing, don't worry too much ![]() Hoping you get grano tomorrow Our Build Thread: The "Extended" Marina by Visionone Homes Our Inspirations: Frank Lloyd Wright | Houzz Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1685Sep 18, 2015 2:08 am Oh trixee. What a tough week you've had. You poor thing. I am so sorry you have felt disappointed with your cabinets- it is such a big part of the build. I personally think you have amazing taste and vision, and this is just one piece of a stunning jigsaw puzzle!! Take heart chick.I remember wondering what the hell was i thinking when my kitchen choices started going in. It all seemed so wrong. And my 15cm open shelves were only 11cm! All of you reassured me and told me to wait until it all came together and you were right! So much time and energy is invested in all your decisions and it can be heart breaking when it doesnt meet your expectations. You will make your laundry work i am sure. So happy to hear about your Italian tilers. From experience the older Italian guys are the bomb...such great work ethic and pride in what they do. Hang in there trix. Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1686Sep 18, 2015 4:25 pm I am really looking forward to seeing your tiling pictures Trixee. Also we have the granite pavers (your first link) in our current home but the storm cloud colour. I do love them but they are extremely rough so I therefore regret getting them as our daughter and even our dog are always hurting themselves on them. We do get lots of people commenting on how nice they look though. let me know if you want me to upload a photo Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1687Sep 18, 2015 5:08 pm ![]() I am really looking forward to seeing your tiling pictures Trixee. I guess all the bottled up stress had to go somewhere! The tiles that I've seen so far through the window already make it look heaps better. Can't wait til it's done! From chatting to the tilers, they do seem to take pride in their work so that's great ![]() Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1689Sep 19, 2015 12:17 am Trixee - sounds like I've missed a couple of tough weeks on your build. It doesn't get any easier getting towards the end and all of the errors/frustrations just tend to pile up on one another! I love your cabinetry.... I'm sure they'll come together as the other selections are added. I wasn't in love with our flooring choice until our walls were painted today. It has just bought it all together. Just hang in there and I'm sure it will be a distant memory soon enough. I'm looking forward to seeing things evolve! Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1690Sep 19, 2015 12:58 am Don't worry Trixie. Maybe when the floors and paint go on the wall it will change the way it looks and you will then remember why you chose that colour My topic thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76249&start=20#p1316378 Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1691Sep 19, 2015 10:44 am ![]() Trixee - sounds like I've missed a couple of tough weeks on your build. Speaking of memory, I'm apparently losing it as I thought the grano was supposed to be done yesterday, but it's actually supposed to be today! ![]() Don't worry Trixie. Maybe when the floors and paint go on the wall it will change the way it looks and you will then remember why you chose that colour Thanks Gypsy. I think the tiles and painting will bring it all together ![]() On another note, last weekend was Sustainable House Day, and if anyone's interested I've done a write-up of Josh's House: http://www.ecohomestyle.com.au/a-tour-of-joshs-house/ Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1692Sep 20, 2015 9:34 pm Catching up again trixee - seems like every time I check in on your build so much has happened (though I am sure it doesnt always feel like it at your end). I love your kitchen - a good clean and I think it will come up a treat ![]() Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1693Sep 21, 2015 2:15 pm Thanks Asha!
