Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1662Sep 14, 2015 10:40 pm Just checking out your pics again, this time on a bigger screen. Definitely a few oddities there (drawers?!), but OMG your bar space, ensuite and bathrooms are absolutely gorgeous. Already! Stunning. What is that pic that you say is so awful? Is it the laundry? The material is a bit strange. http://www.housebythewater.wordpress.com From blank block to new home in Mandurah, Western Australia. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65564 Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1663Sep 14, 2015 10:45 pm ![]() They do seem nice, but they are stupidly expensive. I thought it was such a good thing, so surprised that it's still available and for free! Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1665Sep 14, 2015 11:16 pm ![]() Just checking out your pics again, this time on a bigger screen. Definitely a few oddities there (drawers?!), I know right?! I daresay it's probably something I'll get used to, but you gotta wonder what goes through their heads sometimes... ![]() but OMG your bar space, ensuite and bathrooms are absolutely gorgeous. Already! Stunning. Thank you! I think the bar space is my favourite so far, I really like the proportions that hubby worked out. I initially wanted the overheads there to be glass so I could use it as a display cabinet but couldn't find a suitable design so just did it all black. I think it looks better that way in the end. I'll like the ensuite better once the mirrors go on, and I do like the laminate selection in the bathroom (even though hubby doesn't!). ![]() What is that pic that you say is so awful? Is it the laundry? The material is a bit strange. Yes that is the laundry. The material was always going to be a gamble, but there was a display in the laminex showroom and I thought it looked nice there. Maybe it needs to be done over a bigger area to have the right impact. In any case, I'm calling that one a fail. Hopefully it'll look better once the whole room is done. Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1666Sep 15, 2015 1:02 am I must be seeing something totally different lol . I like different and I like the laundry . Can't really see pattern for kitchen coz it is pretty dusty . I know it's not my home and it's disappointing to get something that you have been waiting for not turn out how you imagine . I do think it looks great . Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1667Sep 15, 2015 1:06 am ![]() I must be seeing something totally different lol . I like different and I like the laundry . Not a good feeling but as mentioned by all a good cleaning and having the flooring etc will do wonders. I love the pattern in the veneer. I was just telling hubby tonight that cleaning the dark formica is a challenge (also a suggestion we got from our interior designer). Seems to show all marks, esp little greasy fingerprints, but my new enjo gloves are doing a pretty good job ![]() ![]() Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1670Sep 15, 2015 1:46 am Thanks ardie. Hm, good tip about the enjo, I have a kitchen glove but have never used it. Maybe I'll bring it to the house tomorrow and have a go! Glad to hear you thought your edges were rough but came up OK, that's very gratifying as that was my biggest worry. Thanks for the encouragement ![]() Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1671Sep 15, 2015 11:37 am Oh Trixee, I'm sorry you're not happy with your cabinets. It's horrible when things don't match up to your expectations. I'm dreading seeing our feature tiles go up in case I don't like it after all the drama we had! You are right about interior designers though! For what it's worth I'm sure it will all clean up ok and like so many of the others have said if there is anything wrong with the edges or drawers etc then the builder will have to fix them. I actually like the laundry and I'm sure it will all pull together when the splashback goes in. I'm sure you'll be able to find a basket to fit the shelves too Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1672Sep 15, 2015 11:53 am Thanks Nikki. I had brainwave last night about the baskets. You can get narrow ones but they're not very long. Well, there's no reason I can't frankenstitch a couple together. Might give that a go. Or hubby suggested removing the shelves and getting a bin-type basket. I'm feeling a bit more positive today, hopefully that feeling will persist! Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1673Sep 15, 2015 3:29 pm Trixee, I was just browsing Darren James Interiors on instagram. Apparently he has won some kitchen design of the year award for the past 2 years. And I was noticing that he also configures his drawers like yours - 2 drawers together with the openings at the top and bottom. I don't know how to link the pic but if you search for darrenjamesinteriors on instagram you will notice it in the white kitchen on the third row down I think it was. My prediction is you will come to love your drawers!! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76666 our custom build on 25 acres Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1674Sep 15, 2015 3:46 pm Admodra - thank you!! Yes it seems he's used it in most places, that's good to know. Wow he's done some nice interiors hasn't he! Our tiles were delivered today and I'd like to check them and their layout with the tiler. I had a very expensive mess up with the tiles in my last kitchen. I chose what I thought was cream but in situ they looked mushroom and awful. They bugged me every time I looked at them. I'm taking that 6 weeks with a grain of salt, but I have to confess to being a tad excited ![]() I've met the tilers a few times now, nice Italian blokes. We're actually paying them direct for our main floor tiling and through the builder for the wet areas. Before they started, we went through the layout and what went where. When I'd pop by again, they had more questions so we clarified that then. Didn't go yesterday but will probably drop by tonight and see where they are at. They're willing to go down to 1mm grout lines so I'm happy with that ![]() Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1679Sep 17, 2015 7:15 pm That is amazing, trixee!
