We've got jarrah floors inside which looked really pink when laid and I thought they clashed terribly with the spotted gum deck. But three months down the track the colors have either mellowed or I've grown used to them and I think they look fine now.

Thanks Justlearning. I did note that when we first saw the doors they didn't look as pink, but they were planed before they were hung and the planing must have brought out the pink that wasn't obvious before.

Wow Trixee. I love the meranti doors. (I've no idea what meranti is... type of tree?) The two woods look fine together. I wouldn't stain it. Embrace it. You won't notice once your room is furnished. I was once worried about mixing woods, but I've since been reassured by plenty of great Pinterest photos that have mixed wood types.
What a day's work! Your builders are on a roll. I can see that your spa is going to put your landscaping very high on your list of post-handover activities.

Thanks for the reassurance Jo! You're probably right, I tend to over think things sometimes. My understanding of meranti is that it's an Indonesian hardwood. Yes the landscaping outside the spa will be top priority otherwise the neighbours might complain!

At least there's a high fence in the meantime.
I'm sure the doors will mellow and if the woods tone it should be fine.

Garage game is so strong haha will have to look back to check the cornice when I've got a bit of extra time.

Love your landscaping ideas! The creek under the decking will look stunning, I love that style of garden! The spa view is also definitely going to need to be good too! Almost a panoramic view with those massive windows!

Thanks Jelbel. We would have painted ours white, but we needed to add some warmth to the living area so left them natural. I'm sure yours will look amazing anyway, have they actually been painted yet? Might not be too late to change your mind :wink:

Thanks BS12 - yeah the cornice is Knauf Tristep I think - but basically the same as trio. We originally asked for Jazz which was slightly asymmetrical but it must have been discontinued or something. I think cornices are reasonably easily upgradeable after the fact, but it might get a bit messy.
