In other news, I also took the day off yesterday to deliver plumbing stuff to the cabinetmaker. I also somehow ended up at Winning Appliances and scored a good deal on all our remaining kitchen appliances - new model Siemens just released, bought 2 ovens, warming drawer, and induction cooktop. Another thing crossed off the list! Oh a warming drawer!! Jealous much!! Our prestart lady looked at me like I had two heads when I asked if I could have one. I don't think she even knew what one was! Got the surprise of my life when I was told today that we have cornices! And windows! And lockup will definitely be next week! I was so excited I forgot to take decent photos! A note on the cornices: they weren't the ones that we specced, but I can't be bothered complaining about it as the difference is minimal and I suspect it's been discontinued anyway. But I like these ones too. Kind of wish I'd ordered the 100mm profile but you gotta stop somewhere! But here's what's been happening. Oh, and did I mention the spa bath has been delivered? You have to wonder what is going through their heads sometimes! Windows and cornices are fab! Hopefully we both get lock up next week! Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1474Aug 07, 2015 11:16 am It's looking fantastic Trixee. Loove the detail of the shadow lines. Have you chosen a wall color yet? We are trying to get this sorted at the moment. Our interior designer suggested Dulux Powered Rock but it is a very strong grey color and while I can see that it would look great, I want my house to feel light and open. So it's back to the drawing board. I still want grey and some contrast but not too dark. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76666 our custom build on 25 acres Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1475Aug 07, 2015 1:31 pm Stunning Trixee, those windows are something else, they make such a lovely feature! So it's back to the drawing board. I still want grey and some contrast but not too dark. Thanks admodra. Funny you should mention wall colour, as I've literally only just sorted this out! I ended up hiring Michelle from this forum to choose my colours as it was all too confusing, and the paint chips available at Bunnings only show about half of what's available. I sent her details about all my selections and she came back with Dulux Narrow Neck for the main wall colour. I normally enjoy looking at colour swatches and dreaming about this and that but it's all becoming too stressful so I wanted someone else to do it for me. I got a sample pot of that and the quarter strength as well, and painted some MDF boards (only 1 coat at this stage, hopefully I can get some more coats done this weekend). It's a truly lovely colour and goes perfectly with all my samples. She chose a warm grey as she was worried that my house might look too cold. I initially thought the full strength might be a bit too dark as it looks quite dark on my monitor, but painted out it didn't look dark at all. She said to use white sheers to keep the look fresh, and pure white doors and trims. Hope that helps. ![]() Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1480Aug 08, 2015 2:38 am You've got great progress happening trixee, loving the windows and the ceiling/cornices..very nice!
