Good work on the bargain! I bought my partner a coffee machine over the weekend from HN for his birthday, I had them price match DJs and got $200 off

Those are some pretty cool fans - I'm a fan (sorry had to!)

Not yet, but it's scheduled in I believe. I sicced my architect onto them, who doubles as my building inspector

No air con for us either. We managed 4 years at our other house just opening the doors and letting the breeze come through and using stand-up fans. The rental we are in at the moment has ceiling fans and they are great. ::smile::

Good to hear! I'm so used to air con everywhere and I'm a bit over it, looking forward to gentler cooling methods.

Hi Trixee. We are also looking at the BigAss fan in the caramel bamboo with black. It is for our family room which has a vaulted ceiling so we would have the extended mount. We also have a fan in our adjoining rumpus room which is not a vaulted ceiling so I guess we would use the same fan on a shorter mount, just not sure how this will look?

Hi admodra, I'm not sure where you're located but they have a display at home base in subiaco with the short mount. I think it looks great!

Okay done some catching up, a few pages or ten ... still more to do. House is looking great, cant believe they have got so much done. And those fans, well, I'm going to say #1 & #3 are my faves. Going to check out those stores you listed as we need to do fans outside in the alfresco and I haven't seen anything I like and most things I find are not rated for outdoors.

Your house is going to be amazing, I'm really looking forward to you moving in and sharing photos, it is going to be stunning.

I can deal with the idea of no air con and using fans to cool the place. Personally I prefer to sleep with a ceiling fan on during the night as against air con... but how about heating? What plans do you have (or maybe not have) there? Love a warm house!

The house shouldn't need much heating, as we have lots of north-facing windows for the thermal mass to absorb the sun, and will use heavy drapes with pelmets to keep the heat in. Not to mention lots of insulation. The fans will also be reversible to push hot air downwards. If we feel the need for heating, we'll get some sort of heater. Hopefully it won't be required though.

Reversible fans? That's awesome! (Call me stupid but...) I've never heard of them before. Love how you've thought of and planned everything!

Thanks BS12. Most fans I've seen are actually reversible, especially the middle range and above.
