Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1281Jun 18, 2015 5:58 pm They're not actually super expensive in themselves, but the tiling will cost more because of the size. Good idea about asking the supplier, I should do that. Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1282Jun 18, 2015 8:13 pm ![]() I've decided to stick it out. Couldn't find anything that had the same effect in a smaller tile. Either the colour was too creamy or the finish wasn't right. Also, the issue of mitring joins is not really an issue, it can be done, just requires a bit of thought. The other issue was the placing of fittings on the tile, due to its waviness the fittings don't sit flush, but they can use silicon to fill the gap, or cut into the tile. But I'm thinking I might have to incentivise the tiler with a slab or two to make sure he does a good job! Not too much incentive please, "burp" he might not get the mitred edges right "hiccup" hehe ![]() Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1283Jun 22, 2015 11:09 am Spent a bucket load of money last week! - Petra Nero 600x600 floor tiles from Tiles 88 - Qasair Foldaway Rangehood, ended up getting the best price from Harvey Norman - Siemens SX66T093AU dishwasher, best price from Kambos Osborne Park Also, we inspected our marble slabs on Friday: http://www.ecohomestyle.com.au/choosing-a-marble-slab/ Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1284Jun 22, 2015 11:42 am Yes you have the champagne genes, mine are the same. (An eye for quality minus deep pockets to match ). So with the marble they must have a fair bit of waste in the product, I suppose that adds to the price? Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1285Jun 22, 2015 12:09 pm Yes, it feels like it's beginning to get a bit ridiculous now! The stone company claims to only charge for the materials used, so they don't charge on a "per slab" basis as such. But the price will change depending on how much of the slab you use, or something like that. Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1286Jun 22, 2015 2:08 pm Nice purchases trixee! It is always exciting ticking off those items on the list for the new home! ![]() Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1287Jun 22, 2015 4:20 pm I just checked out you blog post on the marble - beautiful! Looking forward to seeing it installed. Are you going with any other Siemens appliances? I really need to get my appliances ordered now. I've been looking at a Siemens induction cooktop. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76666 our custom build on 25 acres Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1288Jun 22, 2015 4:21 pm And your rangehood looks great. Will it be built-in to other overhead cabinetry or by itself? viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76666 our custom build on 25 acres Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1289Jun 22, 2015 4:38 pm Hi admodra, yes we're looking at all Siemens appliances. Toyed briefly with AEG but like the look of Siemens better. So yet to buy are a 900mm induction cooktop, 2 ovens, and warming drawer. They've just released new models of the ovens so we're checking those out. It's a bit annoying that we can't actually buy anything yet because they aren't releasing pricing details until 1st July. The rangehood will be built into the other overhead cabinetry, so hopefully it won't look like a rangehood! Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1290Jun 22, 2015 7:16 pm The marble is amazing trixee and your blog post very informative, it will look amazing ![]() ![]() Re: Trixee's Passive Solar Build Perth 1291Jun 24, 2015 1:15 am Scored a great deal today! (I hope we don't end up regretting it!) I got a phone call from Harvey Norman, they apparently had an older model of our rangehood that they had in stock and wanted to get rid of, so they offered it to us for $500 less. Went to inspect it today with hubby, looked good so we took it. It's good to save money for a change! ![]() Also have narrowed down our ceiling fan selections: Bedroom: Brilliant Galaxy Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Alfresco: Brilliant Aviator Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Living area: Big A$s Haiku (yes, we're seriously considering this!)
