Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building the Metricon Fortitude 32 in Bannockburn: ROOF! 41Sep 28, 2014 12:00 am well this stage has been the longest yet, not in a bad way, bricks just take a looong time and its not like whoa everytime ya go past, more like oh they've done a little bit more, but gradually, your colour selections and your home, start to come together and look like a house, we are soo happy with our bricks. we've also had the evap and heating done, plumbing & electrical rough in, downpipes, eve cladding, plaster is fitted and its had first fill, and they have also start on our facade wood batten feature we've had a few minor hiccups which our site supervisor has been quick to amend and/or explain, tap rough in for bath was as per drawing but not as per selections, as i think the drafters forget to amend the plans, but this along with the location of the gas supply line was relocated without hastle. we have also had a few unexpected things pop up the facade downpipe, we knew it was there, but we didn't know it would look the way it does, we're not sure whether we don't like it or not, or what we could do to improve it, but it is pretty much as drawn so we can't do much about it. here is the elevation drawing showing the down pipe, slightly more attractive than the actual product here is the actual downpipe, 1st pic is taken from in the middle of our front portico and this is the display home, which is kinda what we had pictured also there was this beam we didn't notice until bricks were completed, we have a tiny little portico-ish type thing at our laundry door, so this is cause for a horizontal beam, much similar to what we see in an alfresco or a front portico this was apparently missed on the plans by the drafters and is absolutely required we hated it at first, now i dont think we really mind, but it would have been nice to know the elevation plan, which doesn't show the line across the laundry to indicate a beam Building the Metricon Fortitude 32 in Bannockburn http://tinyurl.com/oz79mm4 Coffee Stain - custom lighting, furniture & collectibles www.facebook.com/coffeestaincreations Re: Building Metricon Fortitude32 - Bannockburn: BRICKS/PLAS 42Sep 28, 2014 5:59 pm wow - progress!!! I understand your disappointment but doesn't look as bad as I thought. That is a beautiful looking house! yeah not too bad now we've had time to process it, i think they were both a bit of shock more than anything, but the laundry is not really a big deal, and the down pipe isn't that bad. Sheilzy Oh my goodness. I'm amazed by how quickly your house is coming along. WOW! It's looking really FANTASTIC. Can't wait to see your selections for the interior come to life:) it is absolutely flying, we thought it would be very slow, loving the pace, we hope to be in by christmas, but i asked the site super pre bricks if we would and he said not a chance, so who knows we actually have our cabinetry in, loving it so far, will post pics when we get some decent photo's, we've just received our fixing invoice this morning, so we're on to final stage now, woohoo. It really gives the facade the WOW factor. Re: Building Metricon Fortitude32 - Bannockburn: TILING DONE 52Nov 03, 2014 7:46 pm well, we've had our tiles installed, finally and we managed to get in for a sneak peak while a trade was there. so we've managed to get some interior pics, finally when we originally had to paint the wood feature on the front, we picked a brown colour called blackball hoping it would still have a nice effect, this colour was also going to be our bits and pieces colour for switchboard, beams etc, well i think the painter just read blackball and bought black, so now our switchboard and beams etc are black, which is fantastic, we actually wanted this but during our colour appointment, to pick the second colour it was going to cost $300-$500 from memory so that is another little mistake we are stoked about another mistake or overlooked thing was the bathroom ceiling fan, in our electrical appointment we were told that our bathroom did not need a ceiling fan due to having an openable window, we wanted to put one in but i couldn't justify the cost if i could do it myself, but the sparky's have put one in anyways. today we purchased a matching fan for the laundry, we also bought our facade lights today and our downlights that i will be installing after handover we're very happy with our tiles and havent really found anything we're unhappy with, the SS says plumbers will be in sometime this week and hopefully the glaziers or whatever to measure up for the shower screens and mirrors etc, then after that he was do some QA to ensure most trades will be completed before the flooring goes in the ensuite shower the bathroom shower the bathroom the laundry some shots to show the natural light coming in - approximately 10am the kitchen/butlers pantry the boss lady with an ear to ear grin Building the Metricon Fortitude 32 in Bannockburn http://tinyurl.com/oz79mm4 Coffee Stain - custom lighting, furniture & collectibles www.facebook.com/coffeestaincreations Re: Building Metricon Fortitude32 - Bannockburn: TILING COMP 53Nov 03, 2014 8:18 pm Wow aren't you lucky with all the 'good' mistakes thrown your way!
