Re: Simonds Sanctuary Brisbane Colour selection pics. 7Aug 01, 2014 8:54 am Overhead kitchen cabinets are cocoa spruce sheen, its like a light brown with strips, cabinets below are new barron alder sheen (dark chocolate colour), benchtop is latte colour. Kickboard is alabaster sheen( creamish). Is anyone doing overhead cupboards outside post handover?, for those with no overhead cupboards on their standard design. My kitchen is too long abt 5720 so its going to cost me a fortune to do those overhead ones. Trying to weigh my options to do it post handover. Re: Simonds Sanctuary Brisbane Colour selection pics. 8Aug 01, 2014 9:17 am Selections look great. Did you do flooring as well? We thought about doing overhead cupboards after handover, the biggest issue we had was that you'll have to get an infill done above the cupboards so it all matches the rest of the kitchen and we thought that would be too difficult for us with everything else we're already doing after handover. I just figured much like StephyD did, there is already so much to do after handover, I might as well get them done at the build stage and roll it all in with the home costs. We have a small kitchen. For the 4 we have including bulkheads due to having higher ceilings it end up costing close to $900 Reasononable I think. We didnt put top handles bcos I was thinking of putting in different ones post handover. I didnt like any of the ones simondd like.
Re: Simonds Sanctuary Brisbane Colour selection pics. 11Aug 01, 2014 12:17 pm We have chosen 2740mmm ceiling heights and it automatically doubles the bulkheads to 300mm deep the whole house wherever needed, so not sure if thats deep enough. Its costing us abt $1000 for half the number of overhead cupboards needed so we are looking at maybe $2000! total cost. And my laundry is costing me $3000! for 2200mm length benchtop including trough ànd 20mm thick benchtop and cupboards at the bottom only. Was thinking maybe i should do my laundry later on and just leave it with no benchtop and cupboards for now.AAAaaarrrrggg! , decisions, decisions its so difficult. We just thought $3000 seems too much!. What are your thoughts. THE WHOLE laundry length is abt 3800mm. Mayb i should shop around for a quote before contract signing.? Re: Simonds Sanctuary Brisbane Colour selection pics. 12Aug 01, 2014 12:25 pm Yes we did flooring as well, we chose stratos wet cement polished porcelain tiles. If you look up on national tiles website you can see some rooms they have done with these tiles. Its the only thing i selected well before the tile appointment andnwas available as the rest was either out of stock or didnt have it. We are going on Monday to reselect wet areas tiles as we upgraded everything only to realise when we got the quote in the email was wayyyyy out of our budget. Will post those once i have them. Re: Simonds Sanctuary Brisbane Colour selection pics. 13Aug 01, 2014 4:16 pm Flooring is the most expensive upgrade for my build. We started with timber laminate $7-8k but later at contract signing changed our minds and thought tiles will look better in the kitchen/family area cos it is such a big open area. We also went to national tiles as they had a wide range to choose from. Ended up with 600x600 polished porcelain tiles. It was $11k and we put them right through to the bathrooms and around the bath. The 450x450 are cheaper but i hate grout and to put 450x450 tiles in a big area will have too much grout lines. We are very pleased at how it turned out. Love our tiles. They are so shiny and it changes colour tone depending on the light. Re: Simonds Sanctuary Brisbane Colour selection pics. 14Aug 01, 2014 4:44 pm By the sounds of it I think it's worth getting someone to give you a quote on it all. My only suggestion is if you want to do your laundry fit out afterwards get your standard laundry cabinet put where you'll have the sink when fitted out with cabinetry then you won't have to move your waste point. Also think about if you'll want the washing machine taps out of sight (under the sink) so you don't have to run hoses above the cabinetry and if you'll be wanting a mixertap instead of wall taps. Sorry if it sounds a bit bombarding I just know these things add up when your building and if you can plan it right at the start you'll save some money. Yes i hope i can save this way and do it later as i am not sure also whether i want front or top loader washing machine which will determine the length of the benchtop, i havent owned a front loader so i am weighing my options. Re: Simonds Sanctuary Brisbane Colour selection pics. 16Aug 05, 2014 10:19 pm I've never owned a front loader so I can't help there, creature of habit with my top loader haha. They use up to 70% less water, and you'll actually find that the clothes come out a lot drier after the final spin than with a top loader, less drying time. They have a side agitator and don't throw/thrash the clothes about like a central top loading one, so it's gentler on your clothes as well. We like our front loader (just bought a newer bigger one a few months ago) also for the fact we can store things on top of it, with limited laundry space it becomes a bit of a feature! I'm a convert to Front Loaders now... lol (I was very reluctant to change) Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Re: Simonds Sanctuary Brisbane Colour selection pics. 19Aug 08, 2014 12:08 pm Wow we have a 9.5kg top loader for two of us, you must be very efficient at keeping on top of your washing. Top loader technology has come along Deluxes, we had to purchase a new WM last year and we got a new Lg top loader, it has a 4 star wels rating and they got rid of the agitator in the middle so I can do a true delicates wash in it. Selections are fantastic, the upgrade part was hard as we didn't no how the price would compare after handover, our laundry only cost $884, I'd definitely look at getting some prices - $3000 seems like a lot.
