Browse Forums Building A New House Re: First Home Build in 'Trinity' Alkimos 81Jul 08, 2015 3:26 pm Hi everyone, Gosh I've been so slack updating on here.. Motherhood consumes me so much I barely have time to brush my teeth! Ok so latest news is we had our colourbond moment last week.. it's been a long time waiting but it was a nice surprise It seems as though tradies aren't there every day which is frustrating. We've picked up on a few issues recently and since the builder continues to be reluctant to help, we've decided to hire a private inspector. The inspection will take place tomorrow so interested to see what he says... In other news we were recently faced with news that our current landlord wanted us to vacate - again. We moved to this house just over 6 months ago and only signed a 6 month lease as at that time we were lead to believe we'd be in our own home by around August. Anyway the landlord said we were costing him to much money with repairs... Not our fault this place is falling apart.. I regret not having chosen a "nicer" rental when we had the chance, but since we were led to believe it would only be another 6 or so months at the time.... oh well! Thankfully after typing out an email to the owner explaining our situation he has agreed to let us stay on, for now.. We were advised we're about 15 weeks away from handover (which I had to ask in order to tell the landlord how much longer we'd need to stay). Can't come quick enough...! We recently went to see furniture since it was EOFY sales but there wasn't much we liked. This is probably the first time we know what we want style wise as the tiles/kitchen theme is all black/white/grey so we want furniture to suit. Anyway, hope everyone is doing well! xx Pics to follow! Our Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72518 Re: First Home Build in 'Trinity' Alkimos 82Jul 08, 2015 3:30 pm PerthAussie2014 Posting to follow. Very s*neaky!! They've dragged on getting things done yet tell them you're getting an inspector and it lights a fire under their backsides! Haha Anyway, obviously the inspector wasn't able to view our main concerns but he did pick up on a couple of things, in particular a timber support beam in the roof not being mitred (attached) correctly and rather just slapped on and nailed on flat onto another post. I forgot to take a photo as it's tricky to understand. I'm awaiting his report to forward to the builder but regardless i do hope they speed things up.. We are dyinggg to just be in already! This living out of boxes and with a baby is really affecting us emotionally. Will take photos this weekend for you all to see Our 'First Home' Build viewtopic.php?t=72518 Our Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72518 First Home Build in 'Trinity' Alkimos 85Jul 14, 2015 9:39 pm A couple of pics showing the rendering. Our Build Thread: The "Extended" Marina by Visionone Homes Our Inspirations: Frank Lloyd Wright | Houzz Re: CEILINGS AND WINDOWS IN! First Home Build in Trinity,ALK 92Jul 24, 2015 1:17 pm Thanks Honeywood! That front verandah cost us a couple of metres out the back unfortunately but we didn't know then what we know now else we might have removed it. Having said that i do like it and we plan on enclosing it with a little white picket border to add to the character of the home. I think our design will look good as a country/cottage inspired front because of it. We shall see I will attach a proper copy of the layout now. When i started this thread i didn't have electronic copies of anything! Had to ask recently as i noticed others did and i was the only banana taking photos of my paper plan lol Anyway, i'm not able to save the plan onto my phone from my email for some reason so i have taken a screen shot instead. Should still be clearer that my first upload (which i'll try and replace). Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our Honeywood Build Fingers crossed for lock up really soon! My thread - viewtopic.php?t=77170 Our 'First Home' Build viewtopic.php?t=72518 Aww that will look so cute!!' I would love to add a picket fence because the cottage look is adorable but I don't think we are allowed in out estate Bummer about losing some room of the backyard but with a porch that big you might end up sitting out on the porch more often watching the world go by our plans are really similar but I love how your laundry is so spacious and with the hidden toilet is nice! Also good idea about making the hers WIR so big! Guys don't need much space! Can't wait to see it get finished My thread - viewtopic.php?t=77170 Re: CEILINGS AND WINDOWS IN! First Home Build in Trinity,ALK 95Jul 24, 2015 4:11 pm Following Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: CEILINGS AND WINDOWS IN! First Home Build in Trinity,ALK 96Jul 24, 2015 5:39 pm Thanks OHB Truth be told i don't think we're allowed in our estate either But it's not something high up on our list of things to do, we have to put in overhead cupboards in the kitchen, laundry, do the wardrobes etc and painting at some stage too! One of the first things will be the rear landscaping as i need that area done as we have a 14mo and 2 dogs We like the front verandah and have plans for it also, will be nice to sit there with a drink and watch the sun go down, but we're only about 3m from the front footpath and i like my privacy! Haha I think we'll end up using some screening plants there. Laundry looks big now! But after i have a bench top with cupboards there, washer, dryer and trough i think it will be just right. The toilet was something else i changed. The entry was through the laundry and i chose to enclose that and open on the other side (through the bathroom). Hubby says now if someone is taking a shower and someone else needs to use the toilet they can't. But in all honesty, not having any family here and only a couple of friends i don't see it being too much of a problem. Yes we upgraded the robe/ensuite part of our master but it was meant to be bigger (another builder stuff-up). My WIR is ok, not as big as it may look in photos, i initially wanted a wrap around robe, so i could hang/store clothes on both sides, but i didn't pick up on the stuff up when looking at the plan. The ensuite cabinets were meant to have drawers in between both sinks as well. But overall im quite content. It's a first step for us to get into the market and although we'll possibly be there for many years, it's likely we'll buy something bigger down the track, with a proper yard! Haha Our 'First Home' Build viewtopic.php?t=72518 Our Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72518 CEILINGS AND WINDOWS IN! First Home Build in Trinity,ALKIMOS 98Jul 26, 2015 2:09 am So we drove up for a looky today and were very happy to see they've done the white set on the walls! They've also put in cornices, as well as vents in the bathrooms. I smell lock up approaching!!!!!
