Browse Forums Building A New House Re: First Home Build in 'Trinity' Alkimos 61Dec 04, 2014 7:09 pm Haha thanks flick.. You made me feel better x Yes - 3 week break does suck when you're building! Or is it 4?! Either way that's how the cookie crumbles! I have no idea why she left so suddenly! Hubby thinks something must of happened at work for instant dismissal but i'm not so sure.. The receptionist told me her hubby had found work down South so they had to move - and she had mentioned to me her hubby was looking for work... Just upsetting she didn't say anything to me..! We had some pretty personal chats at times, she knew all about our history moving here from over East and helped us before we got married and had our 1st bub, she was one of the first to meet him actually as i had an inspection the week after haha Just a shock really.. She literally just vanished. Anyway, here's hoping we have no further dramas in this rental (although flies are getting in from god knows where driving me batty!) and that we're in our own home sooner rather than later! Must be so frustrating that you can SEE the block is ready but silly politics are probably holding everything up! I hope you get some good news before Chrissy so we can move in not far off each other! I think it is 4 actually.. agh waiting waiting waiting! Yeah even if the leaving was for her husbands work - it seems really odd she wouldnt have warned you Wow so she was more like a friend. Did you have her number? Id try give her a text if you could. I know - Im wishing you luck. We had so many dramas in our rental (that WE fixed ourselves) and they were still strict on the bond money - Giving us $600 LESS! I told my partner - I am NEVER renting again! Too much hastle. You just wait - With Christmas out the way, you'll be shocked with how fast they will start I heard Smart Homes are really onto it.. Im hoping thats true! We went to the block on Saturday and its looking awesome. Literally looks like its ready to be built on! So if we dont find out any news this week, ill be really dissapointed. Im just thinking positive and imagining the end result! Cannot wait to be in our own home! We will all have to have a BBQ or Coffee date once all the houses are built Re: First Home Build in 'Trinity' Alkimos 63Dec 14, 2014 12:31 am Hi D_C, posting to say I'm following your build. Excited for you, with a new baby and a new build!! Hope the little one is allowing you to catch some sleep? Building is a lot of stress at times, it can certainly be a roller coaster ride just like motherhood!! Fingers crossed you will enjoy the journey. Looking forward to seeing your dream realized Re: First Home Build in 'Trinity' Alkimos 64Dec 15, 2014 10:37 pm Welcome Trees!! Sleep = non-existant. Unfortunately he's one of those night feeders and awake every 3 hours or so haha.. I'm sure it won't be forever (i hope!) Thank you so much!! Cheeky. Happens a lot though. Re: First Home Build in 'Trinity' Alkimos 67Jan 17, 2015 12:37 am I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and new year We were interstate introducing our baby boy to family and friends, it went by so quickly and since being back i've requested an update from our builder and they've only just recently applied for the building permit... Apparently it can take upto 2 weeks and then another 2 weeks for them to order materials and trades and then ANOTHER week for a new CLO to contact me regarding earthworks Every time we get an update everything seems to get pushed further back.. We've gone from being told we'd have slab down by Christmas, to end of Jan and now end of Feb So frustrating when in the living situation we're in... We visited our block last week - the sign was still there so hubby pulled it out but the post snapped in half lol So now there's half a wooden post stuck there.. To be honest we're a little confused as we were told slab was at least another 4 weeks away... So i've emailed the builder. Anyway, here it is?! lol Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our 'First Home' Build viewtopic.php?t=72518 Our Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72518 Re: First Home Build in 'Trinity' Alkimos 75Feb 14, 2015 10:12 pm Nothing much to report except that we've finally finished all admin and have moved into scheduling! So hopefully will hear from our new CLO regarding Earthworks and slab withing the next couple of weeks. Unfortunately we did have a few further hiccups, realising they had done a boo-boo with the height of the oven (being too low) when we had paid extra for the stacker option oven/microwave and i went down this path because with a young family i didn't want busy little hands opening the oven, plus i find it easier to clean if located higher. Anyway, ended up having to pay a variation fee for this even though it was their mistake, but at this stage I just wanted it done so we could move forward. Carpet selections were also discontinued but we went in to Trevor's Carpets and made a new selection rather quickly! So now fingers crossed things start moving forward! Re: First Home Build in 'Trinity' Alkimos 77Feb 15, 2015 9:55 pm No, we've still got the stacker but we have to pay an extra $180 for a 2nd pot drawer under the oven to bring the height up!!
