Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 25, 2014 3:50 pm Im just interested to see if anyone else has had any experience with problems with tiles in their new home? We have recently completed our build, moved in in February. The tiling was near perfect and we are extremely happy with the quality of the tiling. However before we moved in we'd noticed some chips in our floor tiles. The tiler came back and replaced those tiles and everything was great. Then slowly over the last couple of months I've noticed the tiles are getting like pockmarking tyoe chips in the most random of places ie: behind toilet doors, under vanities as well as smack bang in the middle of rooms. They are coming up randomly and more and more. The tiling company have taken the tiles back and say that there is definately NOT a problem with the tiles and that we must be dropping things on the tiles? Ive now "obviously" been completely over the tiles and stickered where they are and since I did that a week ago I've now noticed another one smack bang in the middle of the powder room floor. Its really frustrating as I know nothing is being dropped on the floor to bring the chips out. And even if I did drop something on my tiled floor I would imagine a tile would be able to withstand some things being dropped on them without chipping all over the place like this? Our family would have to be pretty rough to be impacting the tiles in all of the spots they are chipped with such brute force??? Anyway, I had a really good look over the tiles last night and I notice that on some there are really tiny imperfections in the surface. If you run a fingernail over them they will basically pockmark? I did this with the maintenance supervisor the other day and showed him. He took it back to the tile supplier and showed them and they still say its happening because we are dropping blunt instruments on them? Arghh.... so frustrating. Im just wondering if anyone else has noticed this with their floor tiles as I obviously cant be the only one that this has been happening too? I might add I REALLY dont want to have my floor tiles completely relaced as that is going to be a HUGE job, but the longer it goes on and the more tiles that are affected I really dont know what else we can do?? The tiles were supplied by Tile Direct and they are RB Hemp Grey 330 x 330. Thanks Rochelle I am not a brick expert, but rendering would be 1 option, it would be costly to do the entire house though.... 2 6673 Hi all, has anyone been ask to do the weeds in their property while in the middle of build?
