Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 23, 2014 9:32 pm Thought it was a good time to start my own thread after reading and following others for a while. So, a bit of background info to start. This is a first time build home for both myself and other half and two kids. We first saw a block of land about 15 mins from where we are currently renting and OH queued up the morning of the land release to secure it, so deposit payed on 11/05/2013 on a 570m block 19m X 30m. Many display homes later we chose our builder based on the plan and inclusions of the home. We made some structural changes due to the fact that my dad will eventually be living with us and he wanted a small area next to his bedroom where he could go and relax or watch his own TV etc.. The land wasn't due to be titled until Aug/Sept but eventually went through on 9/10/13 so this held up all the paperwork end of things as the builder wouldn't continue forward until we had titles. I'm sure it was more the case that they wanted to make sure settlement on the land went ahead before they did it. Fusion Plus Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the modified final plan. It was flipped for the 6* energy rating, the left hand side was extended to the left to make the garage wider and added a roller shutter at the back, widened the theatre and added double doors, made the kitchen and family slightly wider as we had to shorten it slightly so we could fit a window into bed 5. We combined bed 2 and study to make this an area form my dad so he can have a small reading/lounge next to his bedroom. Finally we changed the games room to form part of the spare bed (5) and the kids play zone. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ House on the block. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We are now at plate height in the build and really excited now things are moving, the walls took about two weeks to go up. The paperwork went really slow and was so frustrating as we seemed to be constantly on at them and asking stuff, they didn't seem to want to come forward with info unless we hassled them. Not very organised in the office... We signed on 30/05/13 and slab went down 16/04/14 but since moving into construction things have got a lot better. Had a meeting with SS last thur and he said the roof frame would be delivered this thur so fingers crossed for tomorrow... First time build-Commodore Homes- Brabham WA KEYS 12/12/14. Result... We wanted the dining room light centred into what will be the dining room without the hallway being included as this would alter the final position of where we could put the table and we also wanted to move the kitchen fixture to be centred above the kitchen bench top. Roof frame complete. 16Aug 06, 2014 4:34 pm Whilst looking around we noticed that a couple rows of bricks were missing off the tops of two of the BIR, but when I got home and was about to email builder about it hubby had a message saying the SS had been around and noticed they were missing and called the brickies back to complete it.. seems like he is on the ball.. Commodore Homes, ? re alfresco post.. 17Aug 06, 2014 4:42 pm Just a quick question, Is the alfresco usually held up by a metal post or a brick post, I would have thought they needed a more solid base where it is fixed in the ground i.e. thought it should be in part of the slab and not just on the sand as it holds the corner of the roof up. Or do they put a base down when they do the alfresco and stick it in there?? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ First time build-Commodore Homes- Brabham WA KEYS 12/12/14. Hope tiles start soon... First time build-Commodore Homes- Brabham WA KEYS 12/12/14. Moved in 13/12/14 My building thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72446 1st time build. Commodore Homes, do you have contact with ur 19Aug 18, 2014 3:55 pm Just wondering if any of you have contact with your site supervisor and is it normal to have/not have contact. We're not in contact with ours and have to go through the CA in the office who is rather "behind" on what is going on, or we can log onto the portal to see our progress that still says we're having bricks done yet our roof frame has been completed since 2nd August as it's very rarely updated. Should we ask for ss contact details or is it not realist ? First time build-Commodore Homes- Brabham WA KEYS 12/12/14. I don't trust the portal either, I still have a pic of my neighbours slab on mine plus the slab down date is when theirs was put down and not mine Let me know how it goes though as I will probably do the same.
