Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 23, 2014 4:02 am Hi everyone, me and my partner just sign a house and land package with Weeks building group SA, everything is just a start and the land won't be ready by December this year, but we are very excited about our future home already. Since this is our first house there is a lot of things we need to consider very hard to make sure we do not make any mistake or miss anything in the house because everything is so new to us, also many things to be taking care including selection and all the upgrades we want, I will share any updates here later on. Just one thing jump up on my mind that our house package included everything but not fencing and landscaping, does anyone have any idea that when should I get the fencing and landscaping done, after handover or better get some onsite quotes at any recommended building stage? My block is 12.5m width, front yard should be 7m depth and back yard about 4m depth, how much will it cost for a basic landscaping? I'm thinking to get a driveway sliding gate done as well, how much does it cost too? Thank you very much and hope I can posy any updates soon! This forum is great and you will find a lot of information you need. As far as I know the fencing is always done after the house is completed even if it is part of the package, otherwise the fence could be damaged during the construction. The same goes to landscaping. You will be surprised how messy the building site could be You still can do some quotes during the construction phase though. Good luck. The best stage for quoting is generally just after lock up, so when your outside stuff Is all done. that way they can get a good idea of the site they'll be working with, ground levels, spaces etc. That's what we were told when it came to fencing, landscaping and with our driveway and paths as well. You can definitely get pretty close estimates before then, but most contractors won't be able to lock it in till then Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 So it looks like we finally have some movement on site!
