Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Summit build in the South West - My Precious!!! 1241Feb 07, 2015 11:26 pm I must have missed the post about the burglary. How awful! The laptop getting stolen is one of the things I worry least about for some reason, but in reality I can see that it's the first thing they'd take. Sucks big time! Re: Summit build in the South West - My Precious!!! 1242Feb 08, 2015 11:14 am Thanks for being so lovely as always guys. The police were here last night and were fantastic. Reckon the hard drive will go straight to cash converters and if I can find the serial number they may be able to recover it. Small hope, but hope nonetheless! On the house front, tiles are looking great but he's making a hell of a mess on our freshly painted walls! Has anyone else had this problem, coz I thought you painted first so it wouldn't go on the tiles? Gonna need to touch a heap up. Re: Summit build in the South West - My Precious!!! 1243Feb 08, 2015 12:05 pm Oh Rache how horrible glad no one was home, but what scum stealing your harddrive. I really hope you manage a miracle and can track it down, its so sad losing things you can replace *hugs* for you x Re: Summit build in the South West - My Precious!!! 1244Feb 08, 2015 1:01 pm Aw rache that's terrible. I am glad no one was home but awful to have lost all your pics and personal stuff. Like you didn't have enough going on right now. I've been wondering about the floor/paint sequence of events myself. My bamboo flooring people recommended that the tile go first, then the bamboo, then the painting. But i just don't know. I guess either way something will probably get dinged up. Re: Summit build in the South West - My Precious!!! 1245Feb 08, 2015 1:50 pm Cross fingers rach . That you find it . I think either way you go with painting or tiles first someone is going to damage something . We did a little painting before tilers came in and he didnt do any damage to the walls but a little at the bottom of some door frames . Then we painted when tiles went in and paint when on the tiles but easy to wipe off . Having carpet in is a bit harder . You're not kidding ardie! I do find it amazing that I had to cancel the painters last day coz the tiler didn't want anyone stuffing up his work, and yet he appears to be unaware that the walls are all freshly painted! Hmmm! Kinda glad the painters are coming back to finish up now! Re: Summit build in the South West - My Precious!!! 1248Feb 08, 2015 11:56 pm Melsie68 Cross fingers rach . That you find it . Don't mind having to touch up a few door frames, just not the whole bloody house!! Re: Summit build in the South West - My Precious!!! 1249Feb 09, 2015 12:23 pm Just caught up. That is the worst! You must have been devastated. Really hope that the hard drive shows up. Tiler reckons he won't be done til end of next week which leaves us a week to get skirting painted and in and carpets done before we move!! Trying not to panic but AAAAAhhhhhhhhh!!! At the library today to catch up coz our computer was stolen last week, and then I had my phone in my pocket waiting for a phone call from the insurance company which never came. Went to do some sheep work and took an accidental dip in the swamp up to my neck (yes, very funny!!) and now my phone is dead too!! Still laughing so all good!!!! Floors are only about half done and I can't take any pics until I get a new phone so you will probably get the whole lot in one this time and no progress photos. Hope you are all enjoying your builds without too many dramas...off to check out what's been happening in my absence. I agree with Melsie, the tiler is hopefully doing a superb job and you will be forever grateful he took his time.
