Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Nellie & Chris's HGWA build 41Oct 01, 2014 8:21 pm So there has been a fair bit of progress since they started the bricks. All externals but the zero lot garage wall are done, the theatre and scullery and 2 of the bedrooms are done and half the WIR and bathrooms. Some of the walls are already at plate height. I would assume at this rate they will be complete by next week if the weather stays kind We have a few photos but I'll wait until I go down again sometime this week get more and post them. I'm more of a lurker on this site than a posted hehe Re: Nellie & Chris's HGWA build 42Oct 01, 2014 8:23 pm Yay exciting!!!! Cant wait to see pics LOCKUP!!! Haha. Not sure where our poor brickies are relieving themselves. Possibly the HGWA site a block down? Re: Nellie & Chris's HGWA build 44Oct 01, 2014 8:25 pm Were the only block on our street with a portaloo. I dont want our toilets to go in because then theyll start using them. LOCKUP!!! But by the sounds of other peoples builds they'll use you loo anyway! HAHA Re: Nellie & Chris's HGWA build - Roof timbers/brick meeting 46Oct 07, 2014 3:44 pm Had our brick meeting today! Should be at lock up in 4-6 weeks. Roof timbers are on site (Still no loo but it's on its way apparently) Brickies should be finshed in the next 2 days and SS said he wants to try and get the chippies onto the roof at the rear end of the house while the brickies finish the garage. Speaking of the garage I feel a bit bad for out neighbours on the right as there backyard faces our garage... and our garage wall will be there fence. Whoops hope they like red brick. Hehe And apparently our neighbour on the left is stirring the pot with the SS... But we will wait and see. Can't really make a judgement on her until I've met her right? But lots of progress... Still yet to stop being lazy and upload photos... I will get there! HAHA Re: Nellie & Chris's HGWA build - Roof timbers/brick meeting 47Oct 07, 2014 3:54 pm Sounds awesome Nel! and your ss seems to be onto it all LOCKUP!!! Our roofie started the day after bricks finished which was encouraging! Bricks not finished yet and our Zero lot wall is causing issues with our neighbour. We have roof timbers delivered and looks like there is also plasterboard and the fascia stuff and there are some beams on top of the bricks ready for the roof. Let our CLO know and said they'd sort it out. Our zero lot garage wall meant that the fence had to be taken down, as we are the last to build around us, this is causing issues with our neighbour (who coincidently works with the OH) as there is fence missing and she is moving in today :\ I do feel a bit bad about this as they now have a garage wall as a fence and there is no temp fencing where the gaps are. But I have to keep reminding myself that it's out land and the council and developers approved our build. My OH mentioned they are thinking about rendering that side wall and I want to suggest chipping in half for any cost to render it. They aren't allowed to do anything to your wall without your permission. Also it's your responsibility to maintain the wall. My build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68002 Re: Nellie & Chris's HGWA build - Plate Height 56Oct 28, 2014 8:15 pm Ahhh. Builders never cease to amaze. Apparently our colour bond is on... but. Always a but. We know one of the guys that has built part of our house and apparently our builders have, and I quote " done a d0dgy job".
So over this build. Too much drama. Been a year now and we don't even have a decent roof LOL. Wouldn't recommend HGWA to anyone. Re: Nellie & Chris's HGWA build - Plate Height 58Oct 28, 2014 9:18 pm The building progress .I cant say it gets better when you move in .I have always had anxiety this has sent me crazy m I have even bought some swiss .stress tablets lol . Just think positive you will get there Re: Nellie & Chris's HGWA build - Plate Height 59Nov 17, 2014 12:39 pm Haven't posted for a while, so here's a quick update. Everything seems to look good. We couldn't spot anything too bad which is a plus.. We asked to raise 2 variations, one of which is paving and were answered with a no. Even though paving is so far down the track? And the paving we wanted was to put it back to how it was on our sales sketch which we signed off on I'm sure like 100 times during the paperwork process. (Not sure who changed it but we didn't notice it at pre-start, our bad ) I get the whole "No variations after construction has started" But I don't understand why all us Metro HGWA's get told no and the South West guys get big yes's. Anyway moving on. Last we seen the ceiling had started to go up and there was a huuge pile of sand for the grey float to start. We haven't been down in over a week so not sure how it's all moving along. We were told lockup by mid Nov but something tells me that might be pushed back by not having a SS.
