Browse Forums Building A New House Re: First build, Redink 41Jul 26, 2014 8:00 pm Yes land has titles since 29th of April, but wasn't levelled out for around 2 weeks after that, yes we received a copy of our plans probably 6 weeks ago, last thing we were told is they are waiting on the final layer of bitumen to be laid in the area so it could be surveyed (not sure why it affects surveying) but that has now been done for 2weeks and we still haven't heard about prestart, Re: First build, Redink 42Jul 27, 2014 11:28 pm Just stay on them. Seems you should be able to schedule prestart and design consult. They're usually booked out about a month too. Admin side is sloooow! Re: First build, Redink 43Jul 27, 2014 11:36 pm Yeah I am hoping for atleast a date so I can organise time of work and a baby sitter, (that and a friend of mine signed up with Ventura at the same time we signed up with redink, so we have a little unofficial race going on lol) Re: First build, Redink 44Jul 27, 2014 11:38 pm I know coordinating kids, work etc for 2 days to do design consult and prestart was tough. Both days were pretty long for us but also kind of fun. Hang in there, will happen soon. Re: First build, Redink 45Jul 27, 2014 11:49 pm Yeah our time will come, but its kind of like buying a dream toy for a child then putting it up on a shelf so they can see it but not touch LOL, Guess we just never really grow up but our dreams just get bigger, Re: First build, Redink 46Aug 01, 2014 10:43 pm Hey just thought I would give you a rough idea on dates as I signed up on 7th July 2013, we had our interior design consult on the 9th September, contracts 11th September & pre start was 17th October. We had our interior design appt a bit early as my hubby is fifo so we had to try & fit things in around him being home. Definitely keep pushing for pre start as we were delayed by the Xmas shut down, we got our building permit on the 10th December but unfortunately they couldn't fit us in for site works before Xmas as they were fully booked up so by the time Xmas & new year were over & everyone was back on track working then it was middle of February before we got our slab poured but fingers crossed you signed up a bit before us so hopefully Xmas shouldn't delay you too much!! Re: First build, Redink 48Aug 03, 2014 10:51 am Hey chateau, we were quoted about $2200 for both ensuite and main bathroom. Not sure if it's same size as yours but hopefully gives you a rough estimate. Re: First build, Redink 53Aug 10, 2014 10:06 pm Hi chateau - posting to follow your build. We'll be building with redink too! Agree with everyone else - your WIP and WIR will be amazing! We'll also probably stick with formica in the bathrooms and laundry as there are so many things we'll have to prioritise! I also agree with fmac - an undermount is very very pretty - but I much prefer having an overmount sink. In my current home we have an undermount and I really don't like it. Have to be careful not to damage the stone edges, and it seems to be less easy to keep clean. We've had the sink fall into the cupboard below which was a huge mess! Granted it was probably not fitted properly, but I'd much rather have it supported by the stone rather than being glued on/supported by something else! For now ours are sort of fitted back with some supports - until we can afford to replace the whole part of the kitchen. Ugh never again Re: First build, Redink 54Aug 10, 2014 11:03 pm Hmmm well count me in the loved my undermount sink and can't wait to have one again club the last place we owned had a double undermount sink. Benchtops were corian but loved being able to just wipe into the sink and not getting crumbs etc stuck under the sink edge. Anyway, personal preference really. Good and bad to both. We kept formica in bathrooms too, just upgraded the edges. Can't help with the tile question. Had to think about it as I couldn't remember what we'd chosen Re: First build, Redink 55Aug 11, 2014 12:16 am Haha I'll probably wish I'd done undermount when we have that one fitted and I struggle with crumbs hi guys.
