Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 11, 2014 8:01 pm Hello Everyone, We are starting our journey with Allcastle homes building "The Regent " with the easy build package. Waiting to get our tender and hopefully everything will go well. Any one built with AC recently? Apart from communication issues,is there any major issue in the construction? Would love to hear Jo Re: Starting our Journey - Allcastle homes - The Regent 2Nov 19, 2014 11:28 am We are just about to start building a Grandworth early next year, and all seems good so far. Is everything going well for you so far? Re: Starting our Journey - Allcastle homes - The Regent 3Nov 19, 2014 12:11 pm we recently finished a modified neworth thornton with AC. Great value but not the highest quality. If there's one thing I would do differently is employ an independent inspector for each stage. They try their best to fix things but the SS and admins are looking after so many houses they usually take the quick route. Especially brickwork and internal linings. S/S usually fobs you off with 'that's the way things are done' so back it up with professional advice. That had been suggested to us earlier, so we are going to have it written into our contract that we are to bring in our independent inspector to check at 3 key stages. I'd love to hear anything else you think would have been useful to you at our stage. Water simply pooled everywhere and tradies were dragging mud through the house continually (our tile grout is still brown in some areas because of this). This actually was specifically mentioned on the slab engineering plan and they didn't care too much about it. Hi we are looking to talk to people who have built with them recently.
