Have you had your brick delivery yet? My build thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70655&p=1164017#p1164017 Our House is full of magical things patiently waiting for our Home to be built Re: Building in Providence, Wellard with Domain Homes (Plunk 24Apr 28, 2015 1:36 pm Goodness, I have been terribly slack in updating! Yes, we got the slab down before Christmas....then nothing over Christmas break which we pretty much expected. Bricks were delivered in February and the walls started to go up and all the brickwork was finished by the end of March. It's a pretty awesome feeling to walk through and see it for the first time! I'm super happy with the colour of the bricks so all good after the debacles I've had with them. The roof frame went on 27 March and the colourbond roof went on 19 April - finally looking like a real house. The grey float or whatever it's called was being put on all long weekend. I have 2/3rds of fencing done and my neighbours next door and behind me have moved in. They still won't estimate an approx. finishing date but I'm hoping beyond hope that we will be in by the end of July/early August. After so long with the first part of paperwork and mistakes and omissions and whatever, I must say I've been pretty happy with the progress once the brickwork started. It just seems to zoom along and we visit every weekend and every weekend there is something new to see. I get regular fortnightly updates from Plunkett and I've been really happy with them. It seems almost surreal - I still can't believe that's my house! It looks gorgeous! Yay! I guess I went into this expecting the worst and hoping for the best. My sales guy is simply brilliant, explains anything I want to know - even now a year after signing me up, I know that I can email him anytime and get a quick, honest answer. Now that I am at the building stage, I am emailed or called at least every 2 weeks and given an update. I am really happy with the quality of the build - it looks amazing, honestly better than I expected. The only part that was frustrating was the admin side, which I'm sure it is for everyone - and that was mostly the delay in paperwork and drafting of plans etc - there were a few miscommunications and errors but they were all fixed when discovered and in fact, they bent over backwards to make it easier for one particular error and it turned out that even though my build may have been 2 or 3 weeks behind, it was great that it happened because they not only fixed the issue but they offered me other ideas at no cost which are actually better. So, all in all, fabulous. If you would like sales guy name, PM me and I will email you the details. If you are looking for a builder, try and narrow down to 5 at the most which is what I did. I then got a list of questions together - what are standard inclusions, what is breakdown of cost, lots of different things and basically got them all to come to my place and we interviewed them. Only 2 out of the 5 builders were able to satisfactorily answer all the questions - some of them really have no idea! I then looked more closely at those two, what they could offer me and what the cost would be. I was happy with both companies and both house plans but at the end of the day, Domain was the better fit for me. Hope that helps! Thank you for your reply I am finding myself leaning towards builders with sales people that we connect with but at the same time I know that I will only be dealing with them for a very short time in comparison to the builder in general. So I will probably find myself creating an excel spreadsheet comparison haha. Re: Building in Providence, Wellard with Domain Homes (Plunk 30May 28, 2015 3:38 pm Cornices are all done, sliding doors are on and windows on - white float also done and I've just had an email advising that lockup will be this week and then the painter is booked to do the ceilings and door jambs. EXCITEMENT PLUS! whoo hoo! The ceilings, door frames and doors are all painted. Kitchen cupboards, laundry cupboards and bathroom cupboards are all in, just a bit more to be done with the kitchen cupboards. The bath and sinks are all in too. The waterproofing is all done. This week the tiling for the laundry and bathrooms should be done and then apparently the garage floor is going to be poured and the roller door will be on. I met with the landscaper on the weekend and have organised the garden too. Have chosen a cottage garden mostly and an extra tree. So exciting, should be in by August! whoo hoo!
