Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Cost of site work (earthworks, retaining wall, levelling 23Jun 18, 2018 8:07 am AmitSi Welcome to the forum BTW, That price/build is over 5 years old? In a fast paced building environment it's probably doubled and unlikely to come down The question you need to ask, is " what is a fair price?" , for that you'll need to provide more info, contour surveys, site plan and details..then look at lower cost options, always request Data and Proofs and avoid a salesperson Saying " I'll sort it out later in the office?" OT, The Perth Building market has been recessed for years, but builders still get away with Demanding +$50K siteworks for difficult sloping blocks after owners have handed over a deposit "Forewarned is forearmed"..goodluck Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Cost of site work (earthworks, retaining wall, levelling 24Sep 27, 2018 10:27 am Amit The problem you have in WA also is you will be restricted by the height of your retaining walls, the residential design codes in WA only allow retaining up to 600mm high, if you go over this you will have to go through planning at the local council and also get neighbours approval for retaining walls, if you were looking at 1500mm retaining to fill the block I'm nearly positive you won't get it approved, the only thing you could do is retain 600mm on the boundary and have a 900mm step down in the house. All the best Re: Cost of site work (earthworks, retaining wall, levelling 25Sep 27, 2018 9:31 pm A step down in the house still requires retaining walls if its 2 storey? Then add Deep beams to the above suspended slab as illustrated here Slope up front to back and left to right Split 4 level narrow house You would be best optimising your own design and weighing up alternate construction/engineering methods, then get 3 quotes Cheers Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Hi guys, I want to do some floor levelling before laying the planks and am considering doing it with self-levelling or yellow tongue PB board.
