Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 03, 2014 12:25 pm I have been going crazy chasing the builder/agent, Telstra, NBN...no one seems to know what internet we have or anything... called telstra and its connected me to a call centre clearly not in australia...they have no idea! we have our electrical appt next week and i am at loss!!! Re: how to check what internet is available in a new land? 3Jul 03, 2014 12:54 pm Is there a street name/number? There is a checker on the Telstra website as to what services are available at the location. But it depends on if civil works/infrastructure are happening currently as to whether it'll be accurate or not. Your developer should know as well. This. Your developer will be the one to know, the provider for your estate can also change depending on the estate release. Re: how to check what internet is available in a new land? 6Jul 04, 2014 7:20 am Hi rmjose18, Any luck on the internet? I have the same problem!!! I asked everyone - NBN Co, Telstra and now waiting for the developer to get back! All the links to check for NBN Availability don't work cos our street is newish Is your home in the new subdivision? I read on the government website below and it looks like it's a requirement for the developers to make sure the new estate is NBN ready. If more than 100 premises will be done by NBN Co., if less than 100 will be done by Telstra http://www.communications.gov.au/policy ... velopments Building Prescott-Burbank Land Contract: 4/9 Land Settlement: 24/4 Colour: 21/5 Slab: 10/7 Frame: 15/7 Lockup: 13/8 Fixing: 2/9 PCI: 18/11 Re: how to check what internet is available in a new land? 7Jul 04, 2014 8:29 am Hi guys! Thanks Developer doesn't even know!!!! Anocha yea new subdivision!!! Called Telstra smart connect and they had a look and finally got the answer that it's just plain old copper wires!!!! He said if the developer was keen on better connectivity he should have applied for fibre optics!!! Anywho I think we have the answer Re: how to check what internet is available in a new land? 8Jul 04, 2014 3:53 pm Another option may be to check with your local council. Copper can't be run anymore. There are other companies than provide fibre optic connections than just Telstra and nbn. Re: how to check what internet is available in a new land? 11Jul 05, 2014 2:15 pm rmjose18 Hi guys! Thanks Developer doesn't even know!!!! Anocha yea new subdivision!!! I think you will find you are not in a new development estate. It's essentially part of the legislation now that a developer in a new estate must provide fibre optical cables for fixed wiring. http://www.comlaw.gov.au/Details/C2011A00107 (Start about 1/4 of the way through, Part 20A - Division 1, Simplified outline) What estate are you building in? We r building in kellyville.. Off Arnold ave.. It used to be farmlands n now there's loads of developments happening. Hubby said it's r6 cable (I'm assuming that's the right name) It definitely a new estate As far as I'm aware! Re: how to check what internet is available in a new land? 15Jul 07, 2014 7:20 am Hi all, I'm still waiting for our developers to get back to us on NBN availability. We're also definitely in the new estate - Cypress Waters in Keysborough, also used to be farmlands, the land settled/registered in April 2014. So I would assume too that the developers have to make sure NBN is ready in our area as one of the government requirements. Extreme - do you how who else (apart from NBN co and telstra) we can contact? I will also try the council. I have a feeling our developers wouldn't be much help Thanks again guys. RG-6 cable is used to cable internally for TV points, so it's unlikely to be used to supply your internet. Do you know the actual name of the estate you are building in? I may be able to look it up to see if it is listed as a greenfields site (Greenfields is for new fibre installations) Re: how to check what internet is available in a new land? 18Jul 07, 2014 5:43 pm http://www.nbnco.com.au/develop-or-plan ... t-map.html If you put in "Arnold Ave" you'll see your street appear, and it appears that there is NBN fibre being deployed there (the brown shows that build has already commenced) Re: how to check what internet is available in a new land? 20Jul 09, 2014 8:25 am QuarumNibblet rmjose18 Hi guys! Hey QuarumNibblet, That's handy info - thanks for that. I still have no info from the developers (contacted them through the land agent - Raywhite), still no update it's like Raywhite doesn't even care. So I've just asked my conveyancer to request for the NBN status from the developers solicitor.
