Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 09, 2014 1:00 pm Hey, Im currently in the process of looking at builders for my block in Old Reynella SA. Has anyone heard of Metro Property Development SA? They have the standard range of specifications "Topaz" and the more expensive with all the extras called the "Sapphire". In speaking with a consultant he said on a 180-200sqm house it is about 40K difference. http://www.metropropsa.com.au/index.php ... inclusions They are an Australian wide company which has recently started in Adelaide. I'm just interested if anyone has any feedback from their dealings with this company? ATM im looking at Metricon, Adelaide Designer Homes and Fairmont. http://www.metropropsa.com.au/ Look forward to any responses. Cheers Re: Metro Property Development SA 2Jul 09, 2014 1:31 pm Metro Property group have built a stack of new homes recently and are soon after build completion releasing them to the rental market under the NRAS scheme. They are generally built to a turn key spec, ready to go. I've seen quite a few spring up and asked the question.
An old friend has just built with ADH and are thrilled with the result. A few Fairmont homes about the place, excellent build quality for a project builder and great scope when it comes to getting a pretty good quality custom floor plan built, build times have been a bit concerning however... with 38+ weeks for single storey builds. There's been a few Fairmont build threads on here lately.. Re: Metro Property Development SA 3Jul 09, 2014 8:19 pm Thanks for the response Deluxes. I have spoken with Metro Property Developments and they still do normal builds other than the investment type and the Sapphire inclusions look good depending on $$$. Do Simonds Homes do custom designs at all? Re: Metro Property Development SA 4Jul 09, 2014 8:23 pm It was one of the first questions we asked Simonds as we already had a custom plan that we were shopping around to a few builders when we stumbled across them.. Short answer... No Luckily we loved the Sierra and kind of were happy to abandon the custom plan idea and just roll with It. But I understand that sometimes you need a customised plan to suit block shapes, requirements etc. Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Re: Metro Property Development SA 5Sep 15, 2014 6:57 pm Troy87, have you made any decisions yet?
We are currently building with Metro and we cannot really fault them. Their Sapphire inclusions are extremely reasonable and we are building using our own plans. They can do fully turn key from what I understand. Ours isn't fully but have flooring, a/c, perimeter paving included. We still upgraded a number of items, but I've been dreaming of our new house for years so I had pretty set ideas of what I wanted, which was always going to sit outside of any medium - large builders range, but to do so hasn't been a problem, nor has it been too costly. I wouldn't touch Fairmont with a barge pole personally (cheap, cheap, cheap IMHO), Metricon are are so over priced and I've not heard of or had any experience with Adelaide Designer Homes. Re: Metro Property Development SA 6Sep 19, 2016 1:13 am hello Troy Me and my family are planning to build a house with metro property development. before we go ahead i wanted to read some reviews about them but unfortunately i cant find many reviews online. would you mind sharing your building experience with them? how did it all go for you and are you happy in the end? thanks Re: Metro Property Development SA 7Sep 20, 2016 2:13 pm We are in the early stages with APS. They are a custom builder and are amazing. It took them two weeks to get us to the same place that a project builder took 2 years to get too. We have built previously as well and so far can only say positive things about APS. Also beware of project builders selling themselves as custom builders.. they just arent. Re: Metro Property Development SA 10Apr 21, 2017 4:05 pm Hi I have just received my working plans and about to start selections. I have in the last 2 days sent 2 emails to my Selections Consultant and she has responded to me very quickly. I have also been updated on a change in regard to my air condition and sent a copy of what the layout and zoning is. I'd have to say so far my experience has be fabulous. I will shortly start my own story so people can follow my journey. Re: Metro Property Development SA 11Feb 04, 2018 5:19 pm We are considering building with Metro at Minters Field, Mt Barker and appreciate if anyone could share any recent experiences, particularly with the build timeframes and the level of quality. Re: Metro Property Development SA 12Jul 12, 2018 6:54 am We bought a home and land package from a staff member of metro homes. We found him to be professional and helpful and that is where it stopped. Apparently once the house changes hands from the builder to the new owners Metro want nothing to do with you!! The maintenance manager makes it very clear that they don’t have to repair anything (after a lot of follow up they repair SOME of the issues) apparently baths don’t need sealed tiles all the way around. From there the “office manager” was rude beyond belief yet never apologetic. The maintenance guy never got back to us even though we had a water leak. So you know what we ended up with a beautiful home but feel resentful due to poor after sales care, unprofessional staff and being treated like we were unreasonable for wanting a house that doesn’t leak when it rains. I WOULD NOT BUILD WITH THEM. Re: Metro Property Development SA 13Mar 26, 2019 9:00 pm Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has got any recent feedback on metro homes ? We are looking at getting them to build a house for us. They seem great atm but we are yet to sign on the dotted line. Re: Metro Property Development SA 15Apr 03, 2019 5:28 am Crazy_big_al Guess not. Terrible to deal with!! Once they have your money their aftersale support is non existent. Also, pay extra for good paint, they use non washable, thin watery paint. Our home is great but the service and experience was horrific!!!! Re: Metro Property Development SA 16Apr 06, 2019 10:36 pm Disgruntledbuyer Crazy_big_al Guess not. Terrible to deal with!! Hey there, Yes we are currently building with Metro Property Development in SA and have had a really positive experience so far. Their communication is great- always keeping us in the loop with things and are easy to contact. They're also very thorough (touch wood this continues). This is my second house build, the first was with Fairmont who I found to be shocking- we could never get in touch with them or the site supervisor so Metro are a dream in comparison. This is my second house build, the first was with Fairmont who I found to be shocking- we could never get in touch with them or the site supervisor so Metro are a dream in comparison. We had exactly the same experience, however, as soon as we paid the final payment they become harder to work with. Some of the office staff even hang up on you when they don't know what to do to fix a situation. It takes forever to get things fixed, so my advise, do not pay the final amount until EVERYTHING is fixed and you make sure it's correct, otherwise you could wait a year for it to be fixed. Don't be fooled by their 3 month maintenance because the maintenance guy refuses to fix things as part of that maintenance. The maintenance guy is also very rude. Typically all sales staff are friendly and enthusiastic so they get the commission and then once they have all their money, thats where the niceness stops. I wouldn't recommend anyone to build with Metro, ever. I hope you have an awesome house because ours is under par from what they said they would deliver. We will definitely take that on board and go through the house during PCI with a fine tooth comb and not pay the balance until we are happy with any repairs. That was one thing we failed to do when we built with Fairmont Homes- we waited literally for maintenance for so long and two issues that said they wouldn’t fix “as that’s how it was meant to look” (warped timber in the alfresco). They also never repaired a chipped tile either so I’m for sure once bitten twice shy when it comes to that! I'm sure they wouldn't have that if they were building. Exactly right. It was our first time building and definitely have learnt from that experience. They will soon fix something if they are wanting to be paid. Enjoy your home, hope it exceeds your expectations. Keen to hear from people in the area who have got KDRB done on whom they got the build from? Looking for recommendations. Thanks 0 21091 Hi, does anyone have a clue how the Brisbane Development website work in terms of how uptodate the dates on it are (developmenti.brisbane.qld.gov.au). I transfered… 0 4621 Yeah I don't know why I came to a forum. Place is full of wierdos/pedos thought internet may help but I suppose I'll try my luck with someone in person. Cheers. I tried… 0 6391 |
