Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 08, 2014 10:30 am I'm looking for people that are building or have built with any of the BGC residential subsidiaries (National Homes, WA Housing Centre, Impressions, Commodore Homers). I would like to hear your story-Good, bad or indifferent. Go to my FB page:Perth Homebuilders Support Group https://www.facebook.com/pages/Perth-Homebuilders-Support-Group and PM me. Your help would be very much appreciated. Re: Anyone building with BGC Residential?? 2Jul 08, 2014 10:37 pm We are building with Commodore Homes, we signed up and paid deposit in June 2013. The titles were available, finance approved, floor plan completed and now 13 months later we still have a vacant block. Total neglect and incompetence. Building with BGC Commodore homes has been the worst decision of my life. We were told it would take six months to complete paper work and red tape and six months in construction. It appears at this stage the total will be around 20 months. That is provided we don't have further delays through bad weather and shortage of trades. I recommend you do your research and build with a company that appreciates your business. Re: Anyone building with BGC Residential?? 4Aug 07, 2014 5:57 pm We are looking at building with National Homes. We fell in love with the Radisson design because of the workshop / side access for a boat extra car. However, reading the reviews above has definitely had an impact on how I feel about them now! Generally what I've read is a painstakingly slow process processing paperwork and untrustworthy reps. The build process seems to be better experience but still lots of bumps. A friend of mine is building with Commodore and had to wait 2 months to get a brickie to start working. Having said so, friends of mine have built with Impression and WA Housing Centre. Neither had much complaints. So its a matter of luck.. and as usual, normally you don't hear about the positives experience. From my personal experience.. I've met with National and Impressions sales rep. National rep was very pushy, to the point that we are encouraged to sign pre-contract on day one. Impressions rep were pointing out over and over that they are the cheapest in the market.. gave us impression that its a budget builder. And if you read online reviews, they are not really good at addressing public concerns either. So we decided to avoid the risk My first build journey here https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=71028 Re: Anyone building with BGC Residential?? 6Aug 07, 2014 10:51 pm Attempting to build with Commodore - signed up over a year ago and fair enough titles were delayed till Feb this year. Supposed to be in construction but other than them smoothing out the lot and leaving a too small a space for the garage, nothing has been really started. Plus they slapped an extra $3000 on which they blamed on price increase due to title delay, but they told us this 5 months after titles were released so of course my feeling was it was because they took so long ordering stuff!! Have had nothing but issues with them and lack of communication - sales rep tells us one thing, and somebody else tells us something different. My first build has turned into a nightmare before anything has been built - would not recommend. And did I mention how SLOW they are!!! Re: Anyone building with BGC Residential?? 7Aug 07, 2014 11:06 pm I think the raddison was originally a statesman (BGC), well designed home. I hear the same comments about all sales design reps. who rank one step higher than a car salesman. Interesting enough car salesman techniques where expose in the film "suckers" I beleive after that movie was made the car sales industry in the US was cleaned up. Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Anyone building with BGC Residential?? 8Sep 19, 2014 9:24 pm My parents are building with commodore homes they signed up two months before us had their prestart two months before us, their slab was laid beginning of July still don't have bricks let alone walls we had our slab laid beginning of August bricks arrived two weeks later and brickies started laying two weeks after that. I would avoid like the plague Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66620 Re: Anyone building with BGC Residential?? 9Sep 20, 2014 12:12 pm Hi we are building with Commodore and unfortunately not a good story here either. Signed November 13 told 5-6 mo ths for paperwork and 5-6 months for construction so our worst case should have been moving in this November. Well our slab was laid 7 weeks ago and they cant give us dates for brickies saying another 6-8 weeks away. I can accept a 2 month wait but 3-4 months is just unacceptable. I would avoid BGC due to the additional cost to you while they are signing up homes that they cant build. This is costing us thousands. The thing that gets me most is we enquired before signing about the bad reviews and were assured that the systems etc had changed and these were no longer issues. Honestly our biggest regret is signing with them right now, dont do it. Our previous build was with New Generation (summit) and WOW they are hands down amazing compared to the mis communication and ****** through tbe process this time. Re: Anyone building with BGC Residential?? 10Sep 20, 2014 1:53 pm +1 all of the above. Signed October 2013, siteworks only just last week. First Build, Commodore Homes, Alkimos Beach. My build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69032 Re: Anyone building with BGC Residential?? 11Oct 29, 2014 7:27 pm Yep, signed with National a year ago to build in Madora Bay. Pre-start wasn't smooth and miscommunication from them didn't help. Finally got a letter this week saying we have entered the Construction Phase. Extremely slow to date and communication from them only occurred if we pushed. We are not really expecting things to move very quickly, especially after reading this thread. Cheers Bralex __________________________ January 2013 - bought our block in Madora Bay February 2013 - Certificate of Title Issued Since - Confused and don't know where to start! Re: Anyone building with BGC Residential?? 12Mar 04, 2015 8:19 pm Hi, we are almost going to be building with WA Housing Centre as they have a special promotion going on, but are apprehensive on the reviews online. Has anyone gone with WA Housing Centre or heard anything about them? Re: Anyone building with BGC Residential?? 13Mar 19, 2015 2:15 am I signed with WA Housing two years ago(come next month) and I am still waiting for my first PCI. It was great at the start with the sales lady but things went downhill from the day of prestart. The ****** and delay tactics.... I could go on..... Anyway, I have learnt to steer away from the whole BGC group as all the subsidiary companies share the same resources. I have been building with other companies in the past ten years and I must say this is the worst experience my wife and I have ever had, not to mention our financial losses due to all the delays. Buyers beware! Re: Anyone building with BGC Residential?? 14Mar 19, 2015 3:09 am My parents house was built by statement home 2005, which was belong to BGC. All I can say is, It was the worst experience that my parents had gone throught, crappy to shocking workmanship, slow progress and I had to range the SS everyday to complaint. That why I am stay well cleary of anything belong to BGC. I am building with Atrium Homes at the moment. Re: Anyone building with BGC Residential?? 15Mar 19, 2015 10:39 am You know what? I'm going to buck the trend here. I posted here on September 20 last year when my siteworks had only just begun. Yes that was 11 months in admin and there's no denying that's not ideal by any means. However since then, call me lucky as I've seen other builds delayed, but after the brickie delay (6 weeks from slab down, not even too bad) its been somewhat non stop at mine and I'm looking at a PCI in mid May - 7 months. All workmanship thus far has been top notch and I've only got minimal issues which are easily sorted. Site cleans have been done regularly both inside and out and the SS has been helpful as well. This isn't a 5 star recommendation by any means, but I must admit I've been impressed since construction started. First Build, Commodore Homes, Alkimos Beach. My build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69032 Re: Anyone building with BGC Residential?? 16Apr 05, 2015 10:25 pm Just an update to this post. We are still waiting for our house to be completed. We signed in June 2013, 13 months in admin, and now 9 months in construction, and still not finished. A total so far of 22 months. I estimate it has cost us a minimum of $12,000 in extra interest etc. Building with BGC Commodore homes has been the worst decision in my 57 years on this earth. Take my advice now. Things have not changed. Make the right decision and build with a builder that has some morals. Re: Anyone building with BGC Residential?? 17Apr 21, 2015 1:53 pm I built with the Impressions (sister company to BGC) in 2008, and I must say they are mediocre at best. My house was handed-over late 2008. Just over 6 years later, the house is full of water damaged, the windows are poor quality as they have been incorrectly installed. It's very clearly they don't care about the quality of subcontractors, I suspect in good times they'll hire anybody. Re: Anyone building with BGC Residential?? 18Aug 04, 2015 10:19 pm Another update: We signed up in June 2013 and now 26 months later , we are still waiting . Practical completion inspection is next Friday so hopefully we may finally get this house finished. We had finance approved, land title in hand, floor plan chosen and it still takes BGC Commodore Homes more than two years to build a standard 4x2. My sympathies to anyone that is building with Commodore homes. It's been the worst decision of my life! Re: Anyone building with BGC Residential?? 19Aug 05, 2015 12:40 pm You might be eligible for compensation if the 300 working days mark has passed? Where did you build? First Build, Commodore Homes, Alkimos Beach. My build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69032 Re: Anyone building with BGC Residential?? 20Aug 05, 2015 9:35 pm Apparently the 300 days does not apply if there is shortage of trades or bad weather etc. Shorty after construction started they wrote to us saying brickies were not available. We will try to claim compensation but we aren't confident. They are still advertising every day trying to sign up new victims. We were in a Commodore Homes Display home recently, and the salesman was telling a young couple they would have their new home in twelve months. I just hope they do their research before signing on the dotted line. I wish I had. We are building a house that was planned to be clad in Hardie Linea, our builder has now requested to swap this for BGC Nuline Plus. They look fairly similar and he has… 0 619 1 4673 Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 24828 |
