We're building within the Shire of Mundaring as well. My building blog: http://treechanged.com Re: Helena Valley build with Homegroup WA 27Jan 14, 2015 10:26 pm We had prestart yesterday. I'm getting excited again. Still haven't settled on the land though, hopefully the end of this week. In prestart the upgrades we went with were (off the top of my head) Mirror glass splashback in kitchen Upgraded underlay to carpet in all bedrooms Upgraded the front door to one with frosted glass Added the NBN package Changed the shower heads to the ceiling mounted ones Changed the spout on on the freestanding bath to a floor mounted one LED lights throughout with added extra lights And a bunch of extra power points and conduits etc throughout. Added two banks of pot drawers in kitchen in lieu of cupboards Added a set of drawers in our ensuite. We took out the floor tiles so got a credit of approx $3,500 which paid for the extra electricals. We did have one weird thing, our first progress payment had to be made last week and the bank asked or our contribution of about $10,800. We had no idea we had to pay this (this is on top of our deposit we've already paid). We still had most of our FHOG so we used that but it was a bit of a shock! We're still not sure why we had to pay this, and we're on holidays overseas at the moment so can't call the bank to ask etc. we've just put it over and we'll question it when we get home. Re: Helena Valley build with Homegroup WA 31Feb 24, 2015 3:26 pm We are still going through " scheduling" at the moment, I think i know which block is yours and last we saw the mesh they put down for the slab had been delivered so looks to be close (if it is your block). I think our broker told us about the 10k and that she will use our FHOG for it but i have just emailed to make sure as we can afford to for out anymore cash after site costs of extra 11k and 5k at prestart. Re: Helena Valley build with Homegroup WA 32Mar 28, 2015 10:00 pm Great plan i really love that your laundry is off your kitchen. We have chosen the same roof tiles and bricks. Are you having any render : ) Re: Helena Valley build with Homegroup WA 33Mar 28, 2015 10:38 pm Update: we've got a retaining wall and we were told our slab woul be poured last week, which it wasn't, but must mean it is very close. We also seem to have had our window frames delivered on Thursday which seems strange as we don't even have a slab yet... Hi Sharry, yes we're having a rendered feature panel at the front, we've chosen a very dark blue paint colour for the rendered part. Doesn't seem like too many people are having tiles roofs these days, it also looks like the majority of the houses in the estate so far have cream bricks. Re: Helena Valley build with Homegroup WA 35Apr 12, 2015 12:34 pm Yay Benny! Mine was poured on Friday too! Was stumped they got it done in the rain but seems (from peeking into a few of these threads) a few of us got a Friday pour. They must have seen an opening and just ran with it! Re: Helena Valley build with Homegroup WA 39Apr 13, 2015 2:36 pm Congrats on the slab Bennycat hopefully it all goes quickly from here Re: Helena Valley build with Homegroup WA 40Apr 13, 2015 2:41 pm Yay for slab! Weird that you had to pay your first progress payment though when you had no slab laid? That shouldn't be issued until the works are complete. Perhaps the bank requested payment of your pre-start expenses? Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 thanks guys! yes this is how I've exactly raised it with the builder. still awaiting response. 12 6053 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17609 Hi, did you get any money from insurance? if you did, does it match what you've already paid the builders? 3 9569 |
