How is everything going with it all??! We haven't been out to the house in a couple of weeks unfortunately as I'm up north working - flying home in just under 2 weeks though so can't wait to see the progress Last time we were there all the lights and light switches were installed & the kitchen appliances & splashback were in - sorry for the average photo, the hubby has the good ones on his camera! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ According to our CLO final electrical works was due to be completed last week and paving to the driveway & laundry side of house was to start on the weekend (but with the rain I doubt they started) so hopefully paving will be completed this week! Garage door people had been out to measure too so hopefully that happens straight after paving! Then it's just minor things like bathroom mirrors, shower screens, solar panels, fly screens, final painting etc. Fingers crossed not much longer On another note, our Developer provides landscaping and they're right into their natives (I'm not a huge fan but we don't have a choice as it's part of the guidelines). Below is a copy of their proposed landscaping plan, any suggestions/ideas for improvements are more than welcome as we really have no idea when it comes to this stuff. Oh and ignore the pool orientation out the back as that's wrong: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Dale Alcock | The Stoneleigh @ The Vines | TILING! 83May 18, 2015 11:29 am Bet you can't wait to get home ReenReen! Your kitchen looks stunning, I love the glass splashback!!! Great colour choice!! Sounds like they don't have too much to do at all... Our paving in our house now still went ahead with bad weather at the time so fingers crossed there aren't any delays for you. I really love the landscaping plan, it looks like it will be very low maintenance, especially if you go ahead with the artificial lawn (which we will probably do too). I unfortunately can't see what plants you have gone with but at least with natives you will save lots on water too! Love the planter box too Looks great I think! Very close now! Re: Dale Alcock | The Stoneleigh @ The Vines | TILING! 85May 19, 2015 11:31 am s2dttn I am also building and looking at using the 200 x 400 Plain Gloss White wall tile. What colour grout did you decide to use with this? I'm not sure the name of the grout colour but it's pretty much white - it was the lightest option they had at European Ceramics and it looks great with the white tiles Re: Dale Alcock | The Stoneleigh @ The Vines | TILING! 86May 19, 2015 12:09 pm Thanks for that =) My current tile selection is Zodiac White (see thread below) and I'm trying to decide if I should make the switch to the plain white gloss! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77474#p1358632 Decisions decisions! Re: Dale Alcock | The Stoneleigh @ The Vines | TILING! 87May 23, 2015 11:30 am The OH went past the house yesterday but unfortunately couldn't get in so had to settle for some photos through the windows. As I'm stuck up north it was very exciting receiving these late yesterday It looks like painting to the ceilings including the garage & verandah has started so hopefully the render painting happens this week. Anyway, here's a few photos of some of the progress this week: Paving to driveway Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Paving to side of house (laundry side) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Front Door installed Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Bathroom Mirror & Shower Screen installed Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It looks like the mirrored sliding doors to the minor bedrooms are also in as well as the ensuite shower screen (no good photos though!) Thanks Jelbell - I'm really happy with how the bathroom has turned out Just got confirmation from our CLO that PCI is booked for Friday 5th June @ 8am! Just over a week to go, I am home this weekend so hoping to get out there and get a peak at everything before the meeting. We've got our Independent Building Inspector booking in to do his inspection on the Wednesday before PCI - fingers crossed anything is just minor/cosmetic issues[quote="SmartHomesBuild"]Your place looks great. Exciting being so close to the end! Re: Dale Alcock | The Stoneleigh @ The Vines | TILING! 91May 26, 2015 8:21 pm Congratulations on the PCI date!!!! So close and exciting for you Great idea with the building inspector think it is well worth it!!!! Re: Dale Alcock | The Stoneleigh @ The Vines | PCI! 92May 26, 2015 10:03 pm EDIT: Wow, OK so my wife already posted an update with the same pics! This is why you should read before posting people! Still, here's what I had to say: PCI is booked for the 5th of June, with handover due bang-on 7 months from slab down. We've booked a building inspector just to be sure everything's sweet. I went up a few days ago but was locked out. Properly! I did about six laps of the house though. Seeing a driveway made it feel like it's almost a home. Pretty rough that you can't get in before PCI I reckon... We have a few things to do after handover. The pool will go in on day one hopefully, but as for the internal work; we're unsure about the best order. I've heard it's best to paint after flooring goes in. Any thoughts? Currently we're thinking:
But is it best to paint before shutters are installed? Or even before flooring goes in?? So confusing. Re: Dale Alcock | The Stoneleigh @ The Vines | PCI! 93May 26, 2015 11:55 pm s2dttn I'm trying to decide if I should make the switch to the plain white gloss! I quite like what we have, but my wife's doesn't think they're white enough! jelbell55 I unfortunately can't see what plants you have gone with This one might be easier to read... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I don't know about that grass tree. It might have to go. Also we nominated our compulsory 'street tree' but we don't seem to have one on the plan. Our order was: Painting Carpets Flooring Shutters/blinds Painting definitely needs to be done before shutters and floor height/carpets need to be determined before shutters can be installed. Good luck with PCI Re: Dale Alcock | The Stoneleigh @ The Vines | PCI! 95May 28, 2015 11:04 pm I flew back into Perth this morning and went to have quick look at the house, luckily there was a tradie there working so managed to get inside and have a look.

Re: Dale Alcock | The Stoneleigh @ The Vines | PCI! 96May 28, 2015 11:23 pm Looking great guys! So close to the finish line. I can't believe I haven't come across your posts before. It looks like we started the build at around the same time. Hoping you sail through the PCI and hand over processes. Re: Dale Alcock | The Stoneleigh @ The Vines | PCI! 97May 29, 2015 10:21 pm Can see the pic of the plant selections now and think they are all great! We live in the rivergums estate now and a lot of the display homes at the start of our street were done in natives to go with the theme of the estate and I think they look great! Can imagine your landscaping plan looking really good Pics look great, ensuite came together nicely love the his and hers basins and that shower head!! We really wanted to do that roller door too how great is it that you will have that extra garage space Re: Dale Alcock | The Stoneleigh @ The Vines | PCI! 98May 30, 2015 9:50 pm Congrats on your PCI in a week's time, just wondering would you be using an independent building inspector during that process. btw the height of that shower head does seem a little low. Thanks D_rail JnM Congrats on your PCI in a week's time, just wondering would you be using an independent building inspector during that process. btw the height of that shower head does seem a little low. Thanks Yep we have an independent building inspector that will be inspecting the property on Wednesday, their report will be submitted on Wednesday night which will give us Thursday to review it before we have our PCI with our Supervisor. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly! Yeah we think they've used the wrong showerhead arm, from memory it shouldn't drop down like it does. Just a minor item we'll be raising at the meeting this week! Re: Dale Alcock | The Stoneleigh @ The Vines | PCI! 100May 31, 2015 6:12 pm Thanks T, D_rail and JnM! JnM the height of that shower head does seem a little low. Indeed. I'm hoping they don't make a fuss and just fix it. If the drawing below showed the shower head dropping about 150mm from the outlet, I would have flagged it at prestart for sure. I haven't seen it in person yet but I reckon it'll touch my head. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Technically the 'shower outlet' is at the right height, but I don't know how anyone thought it would be appropriate to make the head the same height as the average Aussie guy. I have to say I'm quite disappointed by a handful of the tradies we've had. How anyone can look at [the toilet, light switches, ceiling fans] that are visibly askew and consider it 'job done' amazes me. We had an issue where the wrong taps were installed (they were white, not chrome as selected). Our CLO acted immediately which was great but all that happened was the white bases were swapped out. The taps are still white! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Overall I think we're both very happy with the house. But whether or not DAH are a 'quality builder' will become clear after PCI. Joe, it depends on your certifier but we are noticing the ones we deal with are really cracking down. So i would recommend you follow your approved landscaping plans to… 4 10983 Hi Simeon, Thank you for laying it down for us. Makes sense. Appreciate it very much. Have a nice day. Cheers 2 9030 |
