Welcome to my building thread - I plan to provide as much updates throughout the build process as possible.
I've decided to build with Sekisui House - A less common builder, although truthfully after visiting nearly every display village in South Australia, Sekisui House stood out from the rest in terms of price & quality.
Sure i would have loved to go with Metricon or Scott Salisbury - But unfortunately they don't cater for my needs in terms of price
LAND
I purchased my land in the estate Emerald Green at the beginning of the year - I managed to obtain one of the largest blocks available, not only depth but in width which I'm more than pleased about.
18.5m x 31.9m (590sqm)
My estate has very few encumbrances other than a no-front fence policy & recycled water solution so I'm quite happy about my flexibility.
FLOOR PLANS
The design I've chosen is the Meridian 215 - Slightly modified.
I've loved this designed for roughly 4 years, despite my efforts to seek other designs i continue to fall back to this design, not a bad thing i suppose.
The Main bedroom located at the rear of the house is a winner for myself, as its far less common and adds a secluded feel the the room.
The open plan living/kitchen area with my modifications has made an already large room far grander.
MAJOR UPGRADES
Below I've listed my current upgrades over the standard "Freedom Blue" Inclusions - Note i asked my consultant to provide a draft quote of the Meridian 215 as finished in their Display Home, a quote i intend to pick to pieces.
- Extension of Family/Living Area - 1.0m (In turn this pushed the Principal Suite outwards - $4,310
- Change to the Tuscan facade & Include two stone pillars- $8,300 + $4,000
- Increased ceiling height to 2710mm in lieu of standard 2400mm - $7,170

I'm off to selections on Tuesday - I've got most of my ideas from the Metricon Lincoln 37..
The theme I'm chasing is a dark, charcoal theme to the entire house.
So far I've been more than happy with the speed of my Consultant - Constant contact through messages and email.
Stay tuned - With selections of Tuesday, I'm sure i'll have plenty of talk about in my next major update.
