Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 03, 2014 7:30 pm Hi all After paying initial deposit with Plantation Homes we have changed our mind and now building Sanctuary design with Simonds Brisbane. Apparently someone is building the Sunctuary in Gold Coast but i have not seen them on this forum. The reason we left Plantation home is we found a much bigger house plan which seemed much value for our money. We are going for Electrical, Tiles and colour selection end of July. I cannot wait. We got the 43k upgrades to use and pay only $15k plus another free $5k to spend called manager's special. Anyone building with Simonds Qld?, would like to ask about upgrades of a few things how much they were for the ones not in thier book like undermount double sink, Reverse cycle ducted air co, full lengthwall stone benchtop in Laundry and butlers and shower size to.more than 1200mm length that they offer. Thanks Re: Simonds Sanctuary in Brisbane 2Jul 04, 2014 8:37 am Hi & welcome, We are building with Simonds in SA, but there are 2 people I know of on here building with Simonds in Qld. StephyD is building a Sierra and Brissyguy is building the Harcrest. Do a search and you should find their build threads The selection options ie bricks, roof tiles etc varies a lot from state to state with Simonds, but some stuff is the same. You're welcome to check out my thread if you want as a fair bit of upgrade & Selections info is on there too. There's quite a few Simonds builds on here at the moment... Your so lucky when are you going in for colour selections? Re: Simonds Sanctuary in Brisbane 9Jul 06, 2014 11:50 pm Thanks justheart. We are going for a colour selection 23rd of July. I so needed someone to lift my spirit up after some friends mentioned to us that its not a nice floorplan, but in my eyes i cant fault the plan. It looks great to us. Im juss trying to upload the floorplan now. Re: Simonds Sanctuary in Brisbane 11Jul 07, 2014 9:49 pm Once you've uploaded your photos to your photobucket. Open one up and on the right hand side is a section that says links to share this photo. I just copy & paste the IMG code into my post and it displays that photo. She ended up creating another thread here: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75984 Check it out, she's just posted some photos at the end of the thread of it. It's a stunning home! Re: Simonds Sanctuary in Brisbane 15Jun 19, 2015 1:48 pm TenaciousB Ru2014 Hi all After paying initial deposit with Plantation Homes we have changed our mind and now building Sanctuary design with Simonds Brisbane. Thanks Hi TenaciousB yes we paid deposit to Plantations and ditched them the last minute but we did not persue the deposit back. The sales guy just accepted what we told him but later on Plantations phoned us wanting to know why we changed our mind. We are happy with our change of mind because in the end we got what we wanted, a big house for a good price. Re: Simonds Sanctuary in Brisbane 16Jun 19, 2015 11:25 pm Thanks TomCat and Ru, we'll make the decision this weekend. We'll get the quote back after all the initial changes we want to make and if we like what we see, we'll come onboard with Simonds. By any chance have you seen a Simonds home with Carringdale facade built in this forum? We like the pic in the brochure but worry that it'll look completely different IRL. Re: Simonds Sanctuary in Brisbane 17Jun 20, 2015 1:01 am Yes! I have seen one, not on this forum but better than that ... in real life, finished! We have a Simonds two-story that was recently built around the corner from us. When I saw it I was surprised, I could tell straight away it was a Simonds home. Then I asked our sales consultant what it was -- I thought it was a Cleo because it looks exactly like this Cleo display home below from Greenvale, Victoria (I took this image from the Simonds site). Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Anyway, our consultant said no, told me it's an 'Oxford'. I am going to check out our build tomorrow, so I'll take a photo of it and post it up here. So come back to check Re: Simonds Sanctuary in Brisbane 18Jun 20, 2015 2:31 pm Re: Simonds Sanctuary in Brisbane 19Jun 20, 2015 9:11 pm Thanks for your time taking the pics TomCat, much appreciated. It looks good. Btw, we've paid the deposit today so we're onboard with Simonds, will start our own thread soon . The only thing I'm not sure of is the estimated start building is only in October cause they're fully booked apparently. With Plantation it seems that you have a set schedule and if you can stick to the schedule without doing any major changes you can pretty much start after getting council approval, rather than waiting for 'your turn' from the builder's schedule and resources perspective. Maybe a bit naive. I guess a few months is worth the wait for your dream house. I've been reading your thread, boy you have the patient there's a big lag between land settled and start building. Re: Simonds Sanctuary in Brisbane 20Jun 20, 2015 9:42 pm Congratulations! I will subscribe to your thread when you start it ... I'm looking forward to see what you've chosen No problem about the pics, it was a pleasure. It's a great looking house. Very true to the artists impression. Yes, I too believe it's definitely worth the wait to get your dream home. We've been patient yes. I'm not real sure what the hold up was. Maybe all our changes along the way ... we changed a lot of things. Almost as soon as they said yes, we thought of something else. So they were really good to us like that. They never charged us any variation fees either, even though we changed a few things after contract and they told us every variation would cost $500. Even though I moaned about it taking so long here on the thread. I never questioned Simonds about what was taking so long, didn't even ask where things were at. As much as I'm impatient to get our new house, we're not really in a rush as that means we have to rush harder to clean this place up! We're lucky to be in a position that we're not under any other pressure (eg. renting/lease running out).
